Archer AX73 – QUIC/HTTP3 stalls with macOS devices
Hello,
I am experiencing connectivity problems with my Archer AX73 (AX5400) router.
Issue description:
-
On macOS (MacBook Pro M4) connected via Wi-Fi 6, certain websites often stall for about 38–40 seconds before finally loading.
-
Ping and traceroute to these domains show no packet loss.
-
The issue only occurs when QUIC/HTTP3 (UDP/443) is enabled in Chrome/Brave.
-
Once QUIC is disabled, everything works perfectly without stalls.
-
On mobile internet (without the Archer AX73), QUIC works fine.
-
On Windows PCs behind the same router, the issue is less noticeable, but on macOS it is consistent.
What I tried:
-
Updated to the latest firmware.
-
Disabled WPA3, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Beamforming, SPI Firewall.
-
Forced 80 MHz channel width and fixed 5 GHz channel.
-
Disabled IPv6.
-
Numerous other things.
Result: The issue persists until QUIC is disabled.
This suggests a firmware bug in Archer AX73 related to QUIC/HTTP3 (UDP) handling with Apple devices.
Could you please:
-
Confirm whether this is a known issue with the Archer AX73 firmware?
-
Escalate this bug report to your engineering team.
-
Provide a firmware update or workaround to allow proper QUIC/HTTP3 operation.
