Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.8.5 Build 20250612 Rel. 44225

I currently use my Deco as my router and DHCP server, which works well. I use my pihole as a DNS server in order to keep annoying ads etc away. However, I cannot see the device names on the pihole, just the IP addresses. The usual solution to this would be to use a local domain name (like .local) in order to query thhe DHCP server, but there is nowhere to set a local domain name in the Deco app settings. Please can this be either set and displayed in the DHCP settings, or it can be customisable in the DHCP settings as there is no way to set it currently without having to re-architect my entire network.

Thank you

  @Raricoza

Hi, have you tried to set Pi-Hole as the local DNS server under Deco APP>More>Advanced>DHCP Server>DNS servers?

Best regards.

This should be a built-in function. Many routers have it, including some ISP provided routers. There are many situations where a home user might want to be able to go to (e.g.) “mediaserver.local” or something similar instead of having to memorize an ip address.
