No 6GHz signals from BE550 India model - Archer BE550 v1.0

I am not seeing any 6 GHz signals from my BE550 Indian model router. I have Moto pad 60 pro, Vivo X100 pro, Macbook pro(M3 Max) but none of them are able to capture the 6 GHz signals.
Firmware - 1.1.2 Build 20250317 rel.18331(5553)

Hi,
I can find new articles on the Internet saying that in May 2025 the Indian government put forward a proposal to open the 6 GHz band for unlicensed wireless services, but I can't find any news articles stating this has already been enacted in law.
So, to me it seems you might have to wait some time until 6 GHz Wi-Fi becomes available in India.

Hello@mehulparmar31 ,
Welcome to our community.
Where did you buy the router? Did you buy it from local stores in India?
Please check your wireless country code and supported channels/bandwidth on your MacBook.

@Joseph-TP Yes I bought the router from an ecomm website in India. They mentioned its under warranty by TPLink India - TPSTech

Hi @Joseph-TP ,
Fortunately, I found this thread. I bought the same router from same local store.
I have samsung s24 ultra and oneplus 13 in my family. Both have wifi 7 but both are not able detect 6 ghz band. Although they are able to connect MLO network but only using 5 ghz band.
I have checked the router box, there it is mentioned it US version.
Kindly, help me fix this issue. Not sure why client is not able to detect 6 ghz band. Although Indian Govt has delicensed the lower portion—5,925-6,425 MHz—for WiFi use.
I am attaching few screenshots which may help.
1. Map support wifi 6 and india is in the map.
2. Firmware is upto date.
3. Rest screenshots are from my mobile.
Let me know if you need more information.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, there's no way to get 6 GHz working in India right now. Here's what's happening:
The real problem: While you might have heard that India "delicensed" the 5925-6425 MHz spectrum for WiFi, these are actually just draft rules - nothing has been finalized or implemented yet. We're basically stuck in regulatory limbo. Until the government actually implements these rules (and who knows when that'll happen), manufacturers won't enable 6 GHz in India.
Why your phones can't see it: Your Samsung S24 Ultra and OnePlus 13 are both WiFi 7 capable, but they're programmed to follow local regulations. They check what country they're in, see it's India, and automatically disable 6 GHz scanning because India isn't on their "approved" list yet. The router being a US version doesn't matter - the restriction is on the phone side.
Those Reddit workarounds: I've seen Reddit threads where people claim they got 6 GHz working by changing their router's region settings to US or another country. While this might technically work for some, but I have not tested.
The store situation: You're spot on - these Tpstech salespeople and their support teams have no clue what they're talking about. They don't understand that WiFi 6/7 (the technology standard) and 6 GHz (the frequency band) are completely different things. WiFi 7 works fine on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands - you don't need 6 GHz for it. They shouldn't be selling routers with promises of 6 GHz functionality in India.
Bottom line: We're all waiting on the Indian government to move from draft to actual implementation. Until then, you'll have to live with MLO using just the 5 GHz band. It's frustrating, but that's where we are.

@mehulparmar31 Firstly, thank you for responding.
By any chance do you have idea once 6 ghz is enabled this router will work in India. I am just not sure should I keep this router or not.

@Honeyo7 Yes I think you should keep it. 6 GHz will be enabled in a few months.
