Model: Archer AX53
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.1 Build 20250721 rel.87654(4555)

The subject pretty much says it all. I've tested on multiple devices, tried disabling QoS, tried having only one device connected to the wifi, tried different channels, Smart Connect, OFDMA, TWT are disabled. The main wifi's speed is ~65 mpbs, while the IoT one's is more like ~800 mbps.

@Kostia16384 The solution was to enable the WMM. Thanks for help here!

We've successfully identified the root cause of your issue. The problem is related to a specific setting that is causing your 5G network speed to drop to 11n speeds.

Please log in to your router's web UI and navigate to the following path:

Advanced > Wireless > Additional Settings >  WMM

Once there, please find the 'WMM' and enable it. After enabling it, please reboot the device, and your network speed should return to normal.

Hello @Kostia16384 ,

Thanks for contacting our community.

Please check the link speed of the main 5G WiFi: How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client.

Please Change channel width to avoid interference. You may refer to Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo).
For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 2.4GHz channel width to 20MHz; for 5 GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 5GHz channel width to 80MHz or 40MHz, etc.

Best Regards.

@Joseph-TP Thanks for your advice. The uplink speed is 2.4Gbps for both WiFis. I've tried every single option for the channel up to 64 (my devices couldn't detect the wifi past that option) (even though, according to my laptop, both WiFis operate on the same channel). I've also tried changing the channel width from 20/40/80/160 MHz down to 20/40 MHz. Both options made the connection worse.

Hi@Kostia16384 ,

Thanks for getting back to me.

When you tested the link speed, have you confirmed that the Smart Connect is disabled? And the test client is always connected to the 5G main network?

Also, check if you have VPN enabled. For comparison purposes, disable VPN.

Best Regards.

@Joseph-TP Yes, the Smart Connect has always been disabled on my router. The test client was always connected to the network I was testing at the moment, no interruptions. VPN was disabled both on the router and on the device.

@Joseph-TP Thank you. I've received an email stating that the case was escalated to tp-link engineers.
