Model: Archer VR2800  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.8.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 220512 Rel.41022n

I have just upgraded to full fibre and set the parameters for the WAN interface as recommended but the router won't connect failing as follows:

 

 

2016-01-01 00:16:02 [5] System: EWAN link up 1000 mbps
2016-01-01 00:16:07 [6] PPP: sent [PADT session is 0]
2016-01-01 00:16:07 [6] PPP: sent [PADI Host-Uniq(0x00000d70)]
2016-01-01 00:16:12 [6] PPP: sent [PADI Host-Uniq(0x00000d70)]
2016-01-01 00:16:22 [6] PPP: sent [PADI Host-Uniq(0x00000d70)]
2016-01-01 00:16:42 [4] PPP: Timeout waiting for PADO packets
2016-01-01 00:16:42 [3] PPP: Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery
2016-01-01 00:16:42 [4] PPP: Connect script failed
 

The WAN port is set up as recommended with my username/password, PPPoE, VLAN 101 everything else is auto/default.

For reference I found the problem, you have to manually set the authentication type to CHAP and disable VLAN mode.   

 

Completely different from the official instructions on PlusNet's website.
