Model: Archer TBE552E
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I bought a TP-Link WiFi 7 PCIe BE9300 Archer TBE552E network card. I installed it on my MSI Tomahawk Z490 motherboard, whose BIOS is up to date (currently version "7C80v1E"). I’m running Windows 11 24H2.

I installed the manufacturer’s drivers for my network card and tested them from the first to the latest version. After installing only the Wi-Fi driver (not Bluetooth) and from the very first restart of my computer, "explorer.exe" keeps crashing and restarting whenever I interact with the taskbar, the Windows key, etc.

In the Event Viewer, I can indeed see a Windows crash, but without any details about the error.

The only workaround I’ve found to get my Wi-Fi card working is to disable it in Device Manager before shutting down my PC, and then manually re-enable it after the next startup.

How can I fix this problem?

I have the same issue, but my device is an Archer TX55E. I installed it to the PCIe slot in my HP workstation running Win 11 Pro, and now explorer is constantly hanging when I try to open the start menu or click shortcuts on the taskbar etc. The wifi continues working, but without explorer working, it's very painful using the PC. I can get it to work again for a while by uninstalling the driver and device from Device Manager and reinstalling it again.

Indeed, I’m experiencing exactly the same issue. On my side, I’ve set up a temporary workaround that bypasses how the drivers are activated. After several tests, I was able to determine that the problem comes from the MediaTek drivers (the ones used by TP-Link). When these drivers start before explorer.exe, the system hangs. To work around this, I created two scheduled tasks in Windows 11 — one that runs on shutdown/restart/lock, and another that runs at startup. When the PC is shut down or restarted, the task disables the driver. On startup, the driver is re-enabled a few seconds after unlocking the session. This way, explorer.exe has enough time to load before the MediaTek drivers, and I can use my computer more or less normally. There are still a few minor bugs, mainly in the Windows settings, but nothing compared to the initial issue. Of course, this is only a temporary fix — hopefully the developers will release a patch soon or find a permanent solution to the problem.
