Dear tp-link community,

I hope you can help me on the following issue:

Yesterday I received my Deco X50-5G and set up was flawless. Speedtest result on my iPhone was 800mbit/sec so not on the slow side.

However on my PS5 speed via WIFI was just 6-10mbit. In the tp-link app I set the PS5 on high priority and forced to use the faster 5Ghz band, still no speed change, even slower.

Then I changed to connection via ethernet, both on the 2,5 Gigabit and 1gigabit ports, a bit faster with 50-70 mbit/sec speeds but still light years away from the possible 700-800mbit which my iPhone and Mac gets.

do you have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

thank you very much for your help.

best regards from Germany

The speed test on PlayStation is often misleading because it connects to Sony’s own servers, which can be outside your country or further away. This can show much lower numbers than the real internet speed. Since your iPhone and Mac are getting 700-800 Mbps on the same Deco X50-5G, it means your internet connection is working fine. For gaming performance what matters most is stability and latency, not the raw speed shown in the PS5 test

  @Vendex

thanks for your reply. I'm not relating my post / low speed statement on the PS5-own speed test but download speeds when downloading games.

While playing games everything is fine, speed / bandwidth and latency.

just thought there is a unknown to me button to push and speed will be the same / similar as on my iPhone and Mac.

Ways to Improve Speed on Deco:
1. If Ethernet speed is slower than expected, try different Ethernet cables (CAT5E or above) and different Ethernet ports on the main Deco.
2. In the Deco app, go to MORE > ECO Mode and ensure that ECO Mode is disabled.
3. Go to MORE > QoS and ensure QoS is disabled. If you do not see an on/off switch for QoS, set it back to standard and remove all priority devices.
4. Go to MORE > Advanced > NAT forwarding, and disable SIP ALG and UPnP.
5. Try running speed tests with different servers, as some may provide better results.

Hi, may I know your SIM carrier? Do you happen to use the "5G+Gaming" SIM service on Telekom?

Can I also have the firmware version of the Deco X50-5G?

If possible, can you help me run a simple test:

  • Put the SIM card into the mobile phone.
  • Enable Mobile Hotspot and connect the PS5 to the mobile hotspot to test the speed when downloading games

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
