Hello, I just set up a brand new unit to serve as a wifi extender. When I attempt to use the unit's administration page, it fails to stay connected for very long, repeatedly throwing up a "Device disconnected" message.  The device's log is filled with lots of "Service stop" messages. I presume that isn't normal?

Appreciate any insight you can provide. Is it possible I have defective hardware?  I tried reinstalling the latest firmware but that didn't help.

Thanks,

Robert

  @Swanzinator ,

Welcome to our community!

What is the model of your main router? Please check whether UPnP is enabled on the main router. Please turn it off for comparison.

Also, you can reset the TL-WR3602BE to another network, like a hotspot, for comparison.

 @Joseph-TP, thanks for getting back to me.

The router I'm attempting to range-extend is a Huawei EG8145X6-10.  I don't know if it had UPnP enabled, as I had to do a factory reset on it to get into the configuration page.  But now I confirmed UPnP is off, and yet the repeated disconnect problem is still occurrring, same as before:

After a bunch of testing, I've found that this Disconnect error (and all the corresponding "Service Stop" messages in the TP-Link System log) only occur when I'm using an operation mode of wireless range extend (the second option of mode "AP/RE/Client Mode").  If I switch it back to the default operation mode of "Router/USB Tethering/USB Modem Mode/Hotspot Mode" then I don't see this problem and the router stays connected fine.

Unfortunately, the disadvantage to using the hotspot operation mode (instead of range extend mode) is that my computer, connected to the host WiFi network, cannot communicate with a device that is tethered directly to the TP-Link via ethernet cable.  I would really prefer to use TP-Link's range extend mode, where all devices can communicate with each other regardless of which network they're connected to.

Perhaps a future firmware update will address this recurring disconnect problem in range extend mode?
