Model: Deco BE85
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20250724 Rel. 20663

Hello,

I am using BE85 and on my PC I use Archer TBE550E wifi7 adapter.

When I setup my MLO network with 2/5/6ghz option my PC always connect to 6/2ghz. I can see that in Windows and by the light indicator on the adapter.

But when I setup my MLO network with only 5/6ghz it only connect to one band. Either 6 or 5ghz but never 6 and 5ghz together.

Is that combination not supported by adapters? Does it only work with 2/6 or 2/5ghz combination and why then even option for only 5/6ghz?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

Archer TBE550E allows combining the 2.4 GHz with the 5 GHz or 6 GHz bands, but it doesn't support 5 GHz+6GHz.

Best regards.

Okay, I understand that you are using a Deco Mesh system with a Wi-Fi 7 adapter and are noticing that, when you enable the MLO (Multi-Link Operation) network with 2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz, your PC connects to both 6GHz and 2.4GHz. However, when you configure the MLO network to use only 5GHz and 6GHz, your PC only connects to one band at a time, not both simultaneously. You are wondering if this is a limitation of your adapter or the MLO feature itself, and why the option for only 5GHz/6GHz is available if it doesn't allow multi-link connections.

MLO (Multi-Link Operation) is a key feature of Wi-Fi 7 that allows compatible client devices to connect to multiple Wi-Fi bands (2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz) at the same time, which can improve throughput and reduce latency. However, the actual behavior of MLO depends on the compatibility between your Deco Mesh system and your client device (such as your Wi-Fi 7 adapter). At this early stage of Wi-Fi 7, not all client devices fully support all possible MLO band combinations. Some adapters may only support certain band pairings (for example, 2.4GHz+6GHz or 2.4GHz+5GHz), and may not yet support 5GHz+6GHz multi-link operation. This is likely why you are only seeing a single band connection when using the 5GHz/6GHz MLO setting.

To enable or configure the MLO network on your Deco Mesh system:
1. Open the Deco app and go to MORE > Wi-Fi settings.
2. Enter 'MLO network' and enable it.
3. In the 'Advanced' menu, you can select which bands are enabled for MLO. Typically, 5GHz + 6GHz is recommended, but actual support depends on your client device's capabilities.

Note: The performance and band combinations available with MLO are highly dependent on the compatibility between your Deco Mesh and your Wi-Fi 7 adapter. As Wi-Fi 7 technology matures, broader support for all band combinations is expected. If you are unsure about your adapter's MLO capabilities, please check with the manufacturer for detailed specifications.
