Model: Deco PX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20250721 Rel. 40198

Description of Issue:

After installing the latest firmware update, all three Deco PX50 units developed critical issues:

  1. Powerline Backhaul Failure

    • “Powerline” no longer appears as a backhaul option in the Deco app.

    • Units no longer connect through the powerline network — only Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

    • Mesh performance has degraded substantially.

  2. Excessive Fan Noise

    • All units now run their fans at full speed continuously, even when idle.

    • The noise level is very high and wasn’t present before the update.

  3. One Unit Unresponsive (Solid Light Green)

    • One satellite Deco stays on solid light green.

    • Factory reset does not work — LED blinks once and returns to green.

    • Device is undetectable in the Deco app and cannot be re-added.

Steps Tried:

  • Rebooted all units, swapped power cables, and changed sockets.

  • Held the reset button 10 s – 30 s — no effect on the green-light unit.

  • Attempted re-adding each unit to mesh; powerline option never reappears.

  • Connected directly by Ethernet; unresponsive unit not detected.

Expected Behavior:

  • Powerline backhaul should function as before the update.

  • Fans should remain quiet under normal operation.

  • Reset should restore factory defaults with pulsing yellow LED.

Actual Behavior:

  • Powerline connection missing and non-functional.

  • Fans run at high speed constantly.

  • One unit permanently stuck with solid light-green LED.

Request:

Please advise on next steps — firmware rollback, recovery procedure, or RMA.
If a recovery tool or earlier firmware is available, I’d like to test it before sending units for replacement.

  @Sashree

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

You can refer to this link to run firmware recovery:

How to use firmware recovery if the Deco become brick-HTTP Uboot tool

If it didn't help, please contact the shop retailer or local warranty office for replacement.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.

  @Sashree

Could you please also help me submit the Deco APP log here:

How to submit Deco APP log

You might need to RMA it but thats a call for @David-TP to make.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

Technical Update – Deco PX50(EU) V1 – Post-October Firmware Update Failure / Stuck in “Pale Green” State / Only Recovery Mode Accessible (But Rejects All Firmware)

Device: Deco PX50 (EU) V1
Hardware Revision: V1.0 (retail, NOT SP1)
Region: EU
Issue started after: October 2025 firmware rollout
Status: Device no longer boots normally, does not reset, and rejects all valid retail firmware files.

Summary of the Issue

After the October firmware update, one of my Deco PX50(EU) V1 units entered a non-functional state. The LED is not solid green like normal operation, but instead a pale/light green, slightly different from the standard “solid green” that the functioning units show.

The affected unit:

  • Does not appear in the Deco app

  • Does not respond to normal reset (short press / long press)

  • Only boots to a recovery-like mode

  • Shows the firmware recovery page at http://192.168.0.1

  • However, it rejects every retail firmware BIN file for PX50(EU) V1 with:

    “Upgrade Failed. Wrong file.”

Important Details About Firmware Behavior

When downloading firmware from the official TP-Link PX50(EU) V1 page, the ZIP contains only SP1-variant firmware, e.g.:

px50-SP1-US-up-ver1-2-3-P1[20240724-rel28307].bin px50-SP1-EU-up-ver1-3-0-P1[20250721-rel40198].bin

The problem:
These SP1 builds do NOT match my hardware, which is clearly labeled “Deco PX50(EU) V1.0” (retail consumer hardware, not SP1/service-provider hardware).

All SP1 firmware files fail to flash in recovery mode with:

“Upgrade Failed – Wrong File”

I cannot obtain a retail non-SP1 PX50(EU) V1 firmware file because every regional TP-Link site (UK, CZ, Nordic, DE, FR) currently links to the SP1 variant in the ZIP.

Observed LED Status

  • LED is not the normal solid green like the working PX50 nodes.

  • LED is a lighter “pale green,” borderline green/white.

  • Unit is not detected by the app.

  • Reset button does nothing in normal boot.

  • Only recovery page loads at 192.168.0.1.

This suggests the unit is stuck in a partial firmware bootloader state.

Recovery Mode Behavior

The unit brings up a simple U-Boot HTTP recovery interface at:

http://192.168.0.1

Steps tested:

  • Direct PC → Ethernet → Deco

  • Static IP 192.168.0.2 / 255.255.255.0

  • Disable Wi-Fi

  • Multiple browsers (Chrome/Edge/Firefox)

  • Multiple cables

  • Different LAN ports

The recovery interface appears correctly, but every BIN file from TP-Link downloads is rejected.

What I Need from TP-Link Engineering

1. Access to the correct retail firmware file

The official download pages for PX50(EU) V1 should provide:

Deco PX50(EU)_V1_1.3.0 Build 20250721_up.bin

—but instead the ZIP contains:

px50-SP1-EU-up-ver1-3-0-P1[20250721-rel40198].bin

This is for PX50-SP1, not PX50(EU) V1 retail hardware.

2. Confirmation whether the October update caused boot failure

My unit entered this state immediately after applying the latest firmware update.

3. Clarification of LED meaning

What does the pale/light green LED mean specifically on PX50?
This color does not match any documented state.

4. Instructions for true factory reset for PX50(EU) V1

Reset button functionality appears disabled.
A deeper hardware reset procedure might be required.

5. Engineering tool (if available)

If a forced flash tool exists (serial console, emergency loader, USB method), please confirm.

Conclusion

The device is currently:

  • Not booting normally

  • Not resetting

  • Not pairing

  • Only entering recovery mode

  • Rejecting every firmware file provided by TP-Link (because they appear to be SP1 firmware, not retail PX50(EU) V1)

A proper retail PX50(EU) V1 firmware BIN is required to restore the unit.

I can provide pictures of the sticker, LED behavior, and recovery screen if needed.
