Tuesday
Model: TL-WR3602BE
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20250911 rel.74429

I tried to connect the VPN Client of my TL-WR3602BE to my PureVPN account. For this I entered my PureVPN credentials, but got a 404 as a reply.

Apparently the Tether app on my Androin Pixel 8 Pro tries to go to the wrong address for the login.

Two questions:

1. Has anyone succeeded in connecting?

2. Is there a way to change the default address the app is trying to connect to?

Hello @havvel ,

Welcome to our community.

Which operation mode are you using now?

Please let me know which step did you stuck in, any error message or screenshot? Troubleshooting you've done before.

Who is your VPN provider? What country/region is the client located in? Please make sure you have completed the configuration correctly (you can check whether the username and password are entered correctly)

How to set up a VPN Server/VPN Client on TP-Link Travel Router?

Also, confirm whether the VPN server is working properly. You can set up VPN clients with the same configuration information on different devices to access the VPN server for testing.

Hello Joseph,

To answer your questions:

1. I'm using Hotspot mode, connected to a WiFi network. The TL-WR3602BE is a v1.0 hardware build and the firmware is 1.2.0 Build 20250911 rel.74429.

2. I double checked my login data with my PureVPN app in Windows 11, they're OK

3. As I wrote in my first post, I'm using PureVPN

4. I'm located in Germany

5. I'm trying to use the built-in PureVPN Client in the TL-WR3602BE, the setup instructions link you gave me should not be relevant, as the TP-Link PureVPN client is pre-installed

6. I'm trying to use the Client for outgoing traffic, I'm not interested in the Server and I'm not trying to install the Server

7. When I enter my PureVPN login data I get a 404 error message, i.e. the TP-Link PureVPN app tries to connect to a page which is not available.

My steps:

1. I go to the VPN Clients Service Page and select PureVPN

2. I select "I have a PureVPN account"

3. I enter my login data (the ones which work fine with my Windows 11 client...)

4. And I get the following reply...

  @havvel

Hi,

To determine whether the problem lies within the Tether app or the router's firmware, could you please try to setup the PureVPN connection via the web management interface of the TL-WR3602BE ?

In case http://tplinkwifi.net doesn't work, then try http://192.168.0.1 or whatever the current LAN IP address of your TL-WR3602BE is.

Hi Woozle,

I did as you asked and was able to set up a Wireguard connection via PureVPN, by using the config file for DD-WRT provided by PureVPN.

Interestingly enough, the web U/I didn't provide a pre-installed PureVPN option...

I downloaded the WireGuard DD-WRT config file from the PureVPN website and used it in the manual setup.

All in all, it seems as if the Tether app for Android is the culprit...

As a side comment: to hide the option to setup a vpn client under the VPN Merge menu item is confusing.... It would be better to split these two functionalities and put them under two visible menu items.
