Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20250731 rel.29662(4555)

Hello,

My BE400 router keeps asking (every 15 minutes) for renewal of the DHCP lease that it gets from my ISP. Here are some examples from my syslog:

2025-11-12 01:57:49 DHCPC INFO [16729] receive ack from server with IP 143.xxxxxx, options(serverid=143.xxxxxxx;lease=1800;subnet=255.255.240.0;router=143.xxxxxx;dns=34.xxxx;)

2025-11-12 01:57:49 DHCPC INFO [16729] send select request with xxxxxxxx;)

2025-11-12 01:57:49 DHCPC INFO [16729] 1/2 lease passed, enter renewing state

2025-11-12 01:57:49 DHCPC INFO [16729]

This causes internet drops in my whole home network. Sometimes I get error connection messages from my devices, or they report that they couldn't get an IP address. Unfortunately, my ISP doesn't allow a normal user to have a static IP address and enforces the use of a dynamic IP address.

I have a fiber connection and don't have any other router/modem in my network. I also tried to use the ISP's router as a bridge and connect it to my BE400 (with Access Point mode) so I could set the connection type as a static IP address, but that didn't help either. The DHCP messages kept popping up in the system log!

Any help will be appreciated 🙏

Thanks

I own the BE800 which is also directly connected to the fiber network of my ISP (the dutch company; Delta), I suffer exact the same problem.. During the renewal, approx. every 15min, the connection also drops (shortly) in my whole network with the result that some of my connected devices sometimes raise an error. I guess because we suffer the same problem(s) this isn't related to just your BE400 but the entire BExxx line-up...

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I also have my internet from a Dutch company (Odido), and I saw this problem in other threads on the TP-Link community. However, I wanted to mention my BE400 to get the right firmware updates from a specialist (if that was the solution).

This is a very weird problem with TP-Link routers. I mean, they're good and powerful routers, but to have a problem like this? Anyway, let's hope it gets solved.

Hello @User23456 &@Bluefish91 ,

Welcome to our community.

Have you tried checking the DHCP lease time on your ISP router? Could you extend the lease time?  When did this anomaly begin?

If you have other routers, please compare and see if they exhibit the same anomaly.

Please provide the complete network topology, for example:
ISP modem—BE400)))((( client devices

(Note: stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection)

Please also provide the model numbers of your ISP devices (router or modem).

If convenient, please also send the router's complete system log and backup files to support.forum@tp-link.com, attaching [Forum ID 847930] and details, and we will have a dedicated person to assist in analysis and follow-up.

How to view and save System Log of TP-Link wireless router

How to create and restore from a backup file on your TP-Link Router

@User23456 , You mentioned that when the ISP router is in Bridge mode, and you set the BE400 to Access Point mode? In this case, there is no DHCP server, and the network should not function.

Do you mean that there is another ISP device in the front of the ISP router? Such as a modem? If you remove the ISP router and connect the BE400 directly to the ISP modem, does the same anomaly persist?

Hello, thank you very much for your reply.

Yes, I checked the DHCP settings on the router that I got from my ISP and found that the lease time was set to 1 day. I already changed the lease time to 1 day on my BE400, but the lease renewal message kept popping up in the system log, and I got internet drops every 15 minutes, as I said in the beginning.

Anyway, that has nothing to do with the DHCP on my LAN. The DHCP renewal messages are related to the WAN or the interface IP address that my router is trying to get from my ISP. Here is where the problem occurs.

What I found in the router of my ISP is that the WAN connection type was automatically set to IPoE, and I cannot find that option during the setup of my BE400. I could only select Dynamic IP instead. And yes i got different routers before but i haven't faced this problem before, only on my tplink router.

Here is the complete topology of my network:

  •  Nokia ONT XS-010X-Q - Fiber Modem directly connected to my BE400 through Cat 8 ethernet port.
  • Smart TV
  • 5 Smart led lamps
  • 1 IP Camera
  • 4 Smartphones and 1 PC
  • 1 PS5 Device

All devices above are wirelessly connected to my BE400; just the ONT fiber modem is connected through an ethernet cable.

------------------------------------------------------

As I mentioned in my previous message, I connected the router that I got from my ISP directly to the Fiber ONT modem.

I checked the WAN connection inside that router and then plugged my BE400 into the ISP router as an access point router. I kept the LAN DHCP on my ISP router, so I got internet connection this way.

But, when I went back to my BE400, I saw in the system log that my BE400 was asking my ISP router for a new IP every few minutes, too! This was even after I set the BE400 to Static IP and configured my ISP router to do an IP reservation (or permanent IP address) for the BE400.

After this experiment, I think that there is a bug in the firmware of my BE400. Maybe I did something wrong, but my BE400 keeps asking for an IP renewal every 15 minutes or sometimes even sooner.

Router that i got from my ISP is:  Zyexl T-56

Hope this information is clear and helps.

Thanks

Hi @User23456 ,

Thanks for getting back to me with details.

Have you tried to set the network to Nokia ONT → Zyexl T-56(Router Mode)→ BE400(AP Mode)

Additionally, have you compared the settings of your previous router with the BE400? For example, is it necessary to configure the 802.1Q VLAN ID?

The tech team has been made aware of your case; they will likely reach out to you via email to continue troubleshooting. Please check your email inbox and confirm.

Hello, Thank you for your help.

Yes, I received a message on my email and I replied to the mail with the forum ID and the necessary files.

I also did what you mentioned in this way: Nokia ONT → Zyxel T-56 (Router Mode) → BE400 (AP Mode)

The result was that the BE400 kept asking for a WAN IP as I said in my previous message, and the 802.1Q VLAN ID is set on my BE400 to 300 (as it was required by my ISP).

Thanks again,

Best regards
