Model: Archer AX18
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 20250821

I have set up an Easy Mesh network with an AX55/AX3000 (V1 Firmware 20250821) main router and an X18/AX1500 (V1 Firmware 20250821) as Easy Mesh client. More AX18's are already on the shelf and waiting to extend the network.

So far so good, but the Easy Mesh only works via WLAN and does not switch to ethernet backhaul when the routers are connected by LAN cable. You can see in the administration tool that the connection still runs via WLAN. This is not what I want because later on the routers will be too far apart from each other to have a good signal.

This is the list of routers that should be able to use Easy Mesh ethernet backhaul: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/593722

AX18 is not listed but AX1500. Both is written on my router! Is there any difference? Is my router capable of using the ethernet backhaul or not?

If the AX18/AX1500 in combination with the AX55/AX3000 (main router) is able to have the ethernet backhaul, what am I doing wrong?

Best regards,

S. Stark

Hi,

The model name of the router is indicated by the word "Archer" following a code of letters of numbers. Anything that doesn't begin with the word "Archer" is not the model name.

As you already said, the "Archer AX18" does unfortunately not support EasyMesh Ethernet backhaul yet.

Thanks for your feedback.

The naming is really unfortunate. When I ordered the router ist was named TP-Link Archer AX18 Wi-Fi 6 WLAN Router, Dualband AX1500 which is quite misleading.

Fortunately the wireless mesh works better than expected and will be kept as is.

Yesterday

@STS81 TP link not have settings for primary metalic backhaul. I use one 5G box and two AX23. TPlink switch and connection is tragical. Mesh unit one go to metalic, one to wireles and all network is very non stable. I go to Asus mesh. This is not for user with big network. Easymesh by TP is only try not for power users.
