Model: TL-WPA7517 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Good morning

I recently purchased a TL-WPA7517 Powerline adapter in order to extend my Starlink internet (a Gen 3 router was being used as a node) to reach 200m up my drive so that I could install a Tapo C530WS camera. Everything worked perfectly.

Four days later I purchased a second TL-WPA7517 Powerline adapter so that further up the drive at the gate I could add a Tapo D235 doorbell. The doorbell connected but couldn’t be fully set up as the Gen 3 node went into a cycle of automatically and repeatedly restarting. All Starlink software is up to date and the router has been automatically and manually rebooted, all to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions on options to rectify this as I now have three separate pieces of kit that I can’t use!

Many thanks.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

By removing the second extender the system stabilised but only for 24 hours then it collapsed. I then tried placing an old TP Link router between the Starlink Gen 3 node and the Powerline extenders and the system stabilised. Three days in and it's still good, so hopefully this is a workaround!

Hello @Tia33 ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP──Ethernet──Starlink Gen 3 ──cable──TL-WPA7517 adapter──powerline──TL-WPA7517 extender)))(((Tapo C530WS

                                                                               └───powerline—New TL-WPA7517 extender)))(((Tapo D235

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

If you remove the second extender, will the whole network stabilize again?

For comparison, please switch the positions of the two extenders. Does the extender at the doorbell location cause network instability? If so, it's likely due to interference from the power lines at that location.

Hi @Tia33 ,

It sounds great!

While the cause of the anomaly cannot be directly identified, restoring network stability is the top priority.

Please continue to monitor the situation and feel free to share any updates.yes
