Saturday
Model: Archer AX1500
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 build 20250812 rel.75732

Both my original AX10 and its warranty replacement unit experience frequent WAN disconnections (every few minutes to hours) when configured with PPPoE. The connection drops are consistent across both units, suggesting a firmware or design compatibility issue rather than defective hardware.

Network Configuration:
• ISP: Leaptel (OptiComm FTTP network)
• Connection Type: PPPoE
• Location: Australia

Troubleshooting Steps Already Completed:
• Updated firmware to latest version available
• Configured MTU to 1492 (as per ISP requirement)
• Disabled IPv6 completely
• Set LCP Echo Interval to 30 seconds, LCP Echo Failure to 5
• Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
• Replaced ethernet cables with new Cat 6 cables
• Factory reset and reconfigured from scratch
• Tested with both units - identical disconnection behavior

- Plugged two old routers (Tplink vr500 and Huawei dn8245v) in pppoe for more than 48 hours and there was no wan disconnection.

Evidence:
System logs show repeated PPPoE session terminations with the router sending “LCP TermReq” messages and immediately attempting to reconnect. The logs indicate the router is actively disconnecting the PPPoE session rather than losing connection due to external factors.

Important Context:
• Direct connection from PC to OptiComm ONT: No disconnections (confirms infrastructure is stable)

• My older TP-Link VR500 router and my huawei dn8245v: No disconnections with identical PPPoE credentials (confirms ISP compatibility)

• Only the AX10 experiences these issues

@Suvaboyfiji

Sure.

Could you please help check if the specific model number is Archer AX10 or AX1500 V3? You can verify that by checking the device label.

Additionally, please email us (support.forum@tp-link.com) the entire system log on the AX10/AX1500. Please don't reset or restart it, and make sure the log records the disconnect and reconnect behavior.

Thank you very much.

@Suvaboyfiji

Thank you for the ticket reference ID.

Noah is our support engineer, and he has provided the explanations about why the PPPoE disconnects. Could you please review his suggestions and follow up with him directly via email? He will be able to figure it out and provide a reasonable suggestion.
