SOLVED Deco X10 - Some devices with Reserved IP address showing online, when they are not.
Greetings all.
I am running 2 x Deco X10 base stations in Wi-Fi Router Mode.
MAC Clone is disabled, as is DDNS and IPTV/VLAN.
I do not have a separate IOT network as I need to access these devices from my main PC.
All the devices in question are set to use the 2.4Ghz WiFi band.
Mesh Technology is ON
I'm having some very strange issues, as I delve deeper down the rabbit hole to trying and figure out why I can see an ESP32 Device connected to my WiFi, but cannot ping it (which is likely normal behavior for an ESP unless it has been specifically setup to return a response). I have physically unplugged all my ESP devices from power to try and figure it out, yet my mystery device is still showing up...why I say mystery, It is obviously something I was working on in the past, but I don't recall what it was, or have it connected anyway.
First Issue
Unplugged devices showing as online in both Address Reservation and Connected Clients / Network Map.
I have two of my devices with reserved addresses physically unplugged.
In the Address reservation, the Icons are Blue (as if they are currently connected and online).
They still show in the Clients / Network Map as online.
Both these reserved IP addresses respond to Ping
Ie
Pinging 192.168.1.19 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.19: bytes=32 time=22ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.1.19: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.1.19: bytes=32 time=53ms TTL=255
Reply from 192.168.1.19: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=255
Ping statistics for 192.168.1.19:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 53ms, Average = 20ms
However trying to access these via a browser returns the expected error of not being available (In this case the 192.168.1.19 IP address is reserved for an ESP32 device running a local http instance I can access when it is truly online)
Second Issue
Pretty much the exact opposite. I have a device connected that is showing greyed out in the Address Reservation and Client / Network Map.
I can ping the address, and I know it is working since this one just so happens to be the Movement Sensor controller for my office lights...which turn on and off as expected.
I can also PING the device and see it online in my Home Assistant setup.
Again this is an ESP32 device, but It's not limited to ESP devices, It Occurs with Tapo Plugs, other devices etc.
I don't know how I can troubleshoot if the Deco is not giving me accurate results in term of what is and what ISN'T connected.
Troubleshooting
All the usual suspects, restarted both devices. Even did a full reset and setup again from scratch... same deal.
Deleted any previous IP reservations. Waited...waited from more...rebooted devices, repeat.
I can also confirm, the devices in question (be they on or offline are NOT changing MAC Address.)
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
V
