Isolated Devices and Network Extender
Hi. I have a pair of X10s. I have activated the IoT network where I attach my household appliances etc and each appliance is set to Isolated.
I also needed to access a backup NAS drive in the garage, so added an RE330 which has an RJ45 connector, to an LS1005G switch.
This all works very well.
I would now like to turn on the Wi-Fi extension capability of the RE330 using the same mesh network name to give better coverage for the IoT devices we have in the garage/utility room; but notice the RE330 does not allow device isolation in the Tether App. So the question is this. Does the RE330 retain the device isolation from the X10 mesh network (matching the device MAC addresses), or does activating it create a backdoor whereby devices attached to the extender can access the main network (and at the same time also lose comms with IoT devices in the X10 IoT network)? I can't make the RE330 isolated since I would then lose access to the backup NAS.
Hope that makes sense.
The obvious work around is to buy a third X10 (or a second RE330 connected as an isolated device); but I want to explore using the single RE330 first.
Thanks.
