Cannot connect to VPN provider using OpenVpn config files
Good day,
I cannot set up a VPN connection on my Deco X50 router. Here's what I'm doing.
- I have obtained OpenVPN config files (2 files, for 2 various VPN servers) from hidemyname
- got them saved on my Android phone,
- created 2 new VPN connections in Deco Android app,
- used ovpn config files - one for each connection/server
- saved VPN server configs in the app.
When I try to connect to VPN via app, I only see green 'Подключение' ('Connecting' in Russian), but no 'Connected' after that. The VPN connection apparently does not work. When I view the connections again, I see OpenVPN-Config.ovpn specified instead of the files I've uploaded (a default VPN config?)
About a month ago, when I used other config files from hidemyname, they worked fine (4 files for various servers, another subscription).
Help appreciated.

Hi, is your Deco firmware Deco X50_V1.30_1.3.1 Build 20251122 Rel. 36074?
Have you tested whether the mobile can still use the same OpenVPN config file to connect to hidemy.name VPN?
"OpenVPN-Config.ovpn" is the default format of the VPN client config file.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Hi, my firmware on Deco X50-Outdoor is 1.3.1 Build 20251030 Rel. 41614, no update available at this time.
No, "OpenVPN-Config.ovpn" does not seem to work. Not sure it should, though: how can the VPN provider verify me this way?

or did you mean I should test the default "OpenVPN-Config.ovpn"?
If so, where do I find it on my mobile?

Hi, any diagnosis / estimates on my question? The ovpn config files are ok, but the problem with these files on the router persists.

Hi, you'll need to install the OpenVPN Connect app on your mobile phone:
So that you can try to connect the mobile phone directly to the subscribed VPN server via the OpenVPN config files to test if there is anything wrong with the OpenVPN config files.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Hi, I did as you say:
- OpenVPN Connect installed on my Android mobile
- 2 ovpn files from hidemyname downloaded to my phone
- they work fine with OpenVPN Connect on the phone, giving me connections through 2 various servers.
However, my Deco X50 still won't work with them, as I described in the first message of the thread, and VPN is not available on my home WiFi.
