I want to connect from work to a machine on the home network via SSH. The Deco app allows me to setup port forwarding on other ports but will not allow me to forward to port 22 on the internal machine.

Is this deliberate?

If so, what is the point?

Hi, can I have the model number of your Deco?

I remember that port 22 is used for communication with the Deco App. Can you change the port used on the local machine for SSH access?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

The Model is X53-DSL. The option wasn't available in the model list.

Yes, it is possible to  modify the SSH port at that end but this seems completely unnecessary.

I don't want port 22 open on my router at all. The fact that you are telling me now that it has been reserved and is open is F_KING crazy. Why does TP-link have that port open? Doing it as an individual is stupid. Doing as a company that distributes networking gear is potentially criminal.

It's such an irresponsible thing to do.

I want to target an external port number of my own choosing and direct that to port 22 on the machine I want to access. I don't want port 22 open because everybody in the world knows that it is an incredibly rich target.

If I have four machines sitting on my network I want to be able to have them all accepting traffic on port 22. From outside the network I would send a request to, for example, 9991, 9992, 9993, or 9994 and that would direct my request to the correct machine.

Hi, thank you very much for the quick reply.

One of the key features of Deco Mesh is supporting managing the network anytime and anywhere on the friendly TP-Link Deco app. The Deco APP management is absolutely safe and secure.

By the way, I noticed Deco X53-DSL is a service provider model, and its firmware version is also customized per ISP requirement.

If you have any potential concerns, it is highly recommended to reach out to our local technical support for further assistance:https://www.tp-link.com/support/contact-technical-support/

Thanks a lot for your cooperation and support.

Best regards.
