Model: Archer C80
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.15.0 Build 250729 Rel. 63726n(4555)

I was using the C80 as a satellite to expand my Easymesh network with ethernet backhaul (main router: Archer AX10 v1.0, firmware 1.3.12). It was working perfectly.

Yesterday I updated the firmware of two other satellites (RE330) to add ethernet backhaul to both of them. Worked as a charm, thanks for that, TPlink team!

But then I updated C80's firmware to 1.15.0 , and it lost the ethernet backhaul. I tried rebooting, reset to factory settings, removing it from the main router and adding it again... But no luck. The C80 can still work as a easymesh satellite but only with wifi backhaul, which in my case has no use because Wifi doesn't arrive to the C80's location.

Any ideas or help?

Thanks,

Hi @woozle ,

I removed the two RE330 units from the mesh network and unplugged them. I then reset the C80 to factory defaults and connected the LAN cable to a LAN port. After rebooting the main router (AX10), I attempted to add the C80 as a satellite router, but it was not detected.

I also tried unplugging the LAN cable and repeating the process, with the same result.

Next, I shut down the main router and left it unplugged for a couple of minutes, then repeated the process with the C80. This did not resolve the issue.

I then connected a laptop directly to the C80 and accessed the control panel. In this case, the C80 displayed only the message: “Can’t start your router? Upload a new firmware.” I downloaded the firmware Archer C80 (EU) V2.20_1.13.15 Build 240812, uploaded it to the router, and rebooted it. After rebooting, the C80 was automatically added to the mesh network using Ethernet backhaul.

I will not attempt to upgrade the firmware to Archer C80 (EU) V2.20_1.14.30 Build 250729. Since the current setup is working, I prefer not to change it.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just for a test, can you please power off the two RE330 that are currently connected via Ethernet backhaul and then try again to connect the C80 via Ethernet backhaul?

I seem to remember another user reporting problems when trying to connect more than two satellite devices via Ethernet backhaul. I can't find the specific post right now.
