Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.9.1

Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent DHCP issue on my Guest Network after updating my Deco M9 Plus v2 to firmware 1.9.1.

My Setup:

Main Deco: Deco M9 Plus v2 (Firmware 1.9.1). I want to keep this unit as Main to retain the free security features (Legacy HomeCare / Home Shield) that come with this model.

Satellites: A mix of other Deco M9 Plus units and Deco X50 units.

Connection: All units are interconnected via Ethernet Backhaul for maximum performance.

The Problem:

Devices connecting to the Guest Network cannot obtain an IP address (stuck on 'Obtaining IP address').

Troubleshooting done:

- If I disconnect the Ethernet Backhaul and use Wireless, it works. However, this is not a viable solution because my X50 units are dual-band and the lack of a dedicated backhaul significantly drops the network speed.

- The issue is clearly related to VLAN tagging over Ethernet in the 1.9.1 firmware.

Since I cannot downgrade from this version, is there a Beta firmware available for the M9 Plus v2 that fixes this Guest Network DHCP bug while maintaining the Ethernet Backhaul?

Thank you for your assistance!

I am assuming you connect Satellite Decos to Main Deco through managed switch. If this is the case, please check the following TP-Link FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2317/

Hello

Thanks for your answer.

Actually, Satellites are connected through unmanaged switches.

It correctly ran with no issue till the download of the 1.9.1 firmware.

Hello

Thanks a lot for your reply and the link.

I will try to test this firmware version in the coming days.

However please note, in my case, that the main deco still accepts the guest network wifi whatever the satellites are wired. But when moving to satellites, the guest network can no longer be reached.

Any idea when TP Link is gonna fix it ?

Regards.
