Phenomenon:

Hi VX1800v users, we have received feedback that when using the Telephony (VoIP) feature on the Archer VX1800v (specifically with Australian ISPs), you may experience the following symptoms regarding incoming calls:

  • The phone rings only once/twice and then stops ringing.
  • Despite the phone stopping to ring, the line is not disconnected and the caller may still hear the ringing tone.
  • Picking up the handset allows the conversation to proceed normally.


Available Solution:

Our relevant departments have identified the cause and provided beta firmware. Please manually download the beta firmware and test whether the VoIP function works as expected.

  @Joseph-TP Just would like to say thank you for this new software and let you know it successfully fixed the phone ding once problem.

 

I upgraded to the new update to solve the ding once on incoming call problem. You could not say the phone rang, it just dinged, only heard if you were next to the phone. The phone now rings and if unanswered, goes to the answer machine as it should.

 

Due to the ding problem No Caller ID or answer machine would show on the phone system (3 Handset Uniden 5.8 Ghz Digital Clarity system. Also a standard phone suffered the same problem of a ding. Total ring load is less than 0.5 RU (1 Ring Unit for old mechanical bell phone). Same problem if only one phone connected.

 

Now works as it used to on the older VX600v modem that the VX1800v replaced and worked OK initially.

 

Please make sure tht future versions have this fix in it. I worked with firmware upgrades in commercial routers and had several UPDATES that missed a previous FIX and had to back out to the previous version whilst a corrected version of firmware with the fix was created.

 

Look forward to having a clean interface on the router when the next update is released. The Configuration Interface now has a watermark on it since the upgrade.

Hello @StephenJT ,

Glad to hear that the firmware can help. 

Since it is a beta firmware, you can see a watermark. Subsequent official firmware updates will not have this watermark.
