Living in a rural area, I have good 4g but no 5g. I assume it will come one day, but not soon. I want a SIM router for my home

 

My choice in practice is Archer MR600 4g or Archer NX200 5g. One is twice the price of the other

 

My main concern is which one is likely to have the strongest, most penetrative wifi signal within the building. I have stone internal/external walls and lots of corners, with potential dead zones. I'm happy to pay the higher cost if there is a significant difference. Is there is difference?

 

Supplementary question: With my existing land-line router, I have an AV600 wifi range extender (quite old - 7/8 years?) Will that work with either/both the above?

 

Any other advice?

If 5G is still unavailable, Archer MR600 might deliver better value. 

During the initial rollout of 5G NR networks, performance may not initially outperform 4G due to the immaturity and incompleteness of the foundational infrastructure.

 

And do you have many WiFi 6 mobile devices?

Since Archer NX200 is not just a 5G gateway, but also a WiFi 6 router with WPA3 support.

  @David-TP Thanks David. The criterion that really matters to me is the range/penetration WiFi signal within the building. Does WiFi 6 perform better for that, or is there no difference? Is there any difference between the 2 routers in the power of the emitted signal? (Note: it is not a crowded environment, so the advantages of WiFi 6 in busy areas is not relevant)

Hi, thanks for the update.

I think WiFi 6 doesn't necessarily penetrate walls better than WiFi 5. The WiFi network speed might be better, but the wireless coverage would be comparable.
