Model: Deco X50 - PoE
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Looking at the continuous flow of firmware updates for the x50 (non-POE) line - and the fact that the POE version haven't received a firmware update for nearly half a year makes me wonder why this is the case?
When I purchased my 3x x50-POE I thought I had selected the premium and best in class model, hoping for at least a few years of support.

The fact is that Deco x50-POE is missing critical functionality, and always seems to have been late to the party in terms of added functionality, and lately seems to get only the most critical security updates if any at all.

Specifically the model line severely lacks advanced features to ensure stable performance of the network, including channel selection and/or automatic wifi optimization (channel selection).

As a long time TP-link and Deco supporter and owner, I feel deceived - and highly question whether I made the right choice when I choose to upgrade my previous Deco system to the x50-POE.

So, can you please let me know whether we can expect feature releases for the x50-POE line, or wheter I might as well start to look into alternatives?

Hi, thank you very much for the update.

Deco X50 (non-PoE) serves as a primary model for early firmware feature integration, allowing engineers to thoroughly evaluate performance and stability before expanding updates to specialized variants like the X50-PoE_V2. This phased approach ensures compatibility and reliability across all models.

Deco X50-POE_V2 is still under maintenance. It is recommended to pay attention to the firmware push notification on the Deco App as well as the firmware release notes on the official website.

Best regards.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Can I have the firmware version of your current Deco X50-POE?

I saw you selected V2. There were four firmware releases in the last year and the latest firmware for Deco X50-PoE_2.0 is 1.5.0 Build 20250619 Rel. 69357.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @David-TP Hi David,
Thank you for your kind response.
I am already running: 1.5.0 Build 20250619 Rel. 69357

Looking at the changelogs in the 3 firmware releases published since 2025-01-15, you can see that they are minimal bug fixes and security improvements.
Deco X50-PoE(EU)_V2_1.5.0 Build 20250619
Deco X50-PoE(EU)_V2_1.4.9 Build 20250110
Deco X50-PoE(EU)_V2_1.4.7 Build 20241115

As opposed to for an example the Deco X50 (non-poe) that have received at least 5 firmware updates and multiple features in the same timespan. This really makes me wonder why this is the case?

As mentioned, I am severly lacking the manual channel selection option, alternatively automatic optimization - as I find the selected channels to be crowded and causes stability issues often.
