Greetings!

Admittedly I did not have high hopes for the vacuum robot at 130 EUR, but ignoring invisible walls (I assume the robot might also ignore no-go zones but I'll give that a try), regardless of whether cleaning or going home, is an absolute no-go. I bought the thing for my mud room (w/ cat litterbox), and I don't want it travelling all over the place, which is just what it did this morning (not documented in the app as its "trajectory", by the way), generously distributing litter sand.

Also disappointed that emptying the vaccum box at the docking station has zero impact on the HEPA filter; that thing is dusty and dirty. On my roborock Z7, the HEPA filter looks brand new after almost four years - the docking station clearly does a far better job at emptying the robot than the RV20's does.

Overall, disappointed - had relied on the Tapo brand name, my mistake.

Any thoughts? I've already re-set the thing to factory settings and moved the docking station.

Thanks for your response! On reflection, I believe the RV20 simply behaved like every other robot vacuum would have - it lost its bearings, ditched the map and went on a search for the docking station, leaving the room it was in in the process.

I've fixed this by removing items too close to the docking station which were in the "line of sight" when the RV20 returned, and the behavior has not recurred. The RV20 now always finds the docking station from the map.

I've had to make one further adjustment: There is a doorstep/room divider of approx. 1.5cm height between the mud room and the adjoining room. That's where I put the invisible wall, but I've had to place it closer to the room divider to avoid a situation where the RV20 is on the divider, then slides down on the wrong side of it and is unable to get back into the mud room.

Only one other example of strange behavior - I initiated emptying when the RV20 was docked, and it somehow left the docking station at the start of emptying. That only happened once, though, and I attribute it to the "cheap" design of the docking station (no "parking space" included). Again, no big deal at the particular price point.

The charging station does require sufficient clear space around it for the robot vacuum to dock properly.

As for the doorstep/room divider you mentioned, adding a virtual wall is indeed a good solution. You might also consider placing a low ramp on both sides so the robot can pass over smoothly, which would prevent it from getting stuck and could even improve its cleaning efficiency.
