Subject: TP-Link RE650 V1.0 – 5GHz Not Broadcasting / 5G LED Not Lighting
Dear TP-Link Support Team,
I am experiencing a critical issue with my TP-Link RE650 (Hardware Version V1.0).
Problem Description:
-
The extender does not broadcast the 5GHz network at all.
-
The 5G LED on the device never turns on.
-
No 5GHz SSID appears on any of my devices, including smartphones and laptops.
-
The 2.4GHz network functions normally.
Details:
-
My main router’s 5GHz network works correctly.
-
The issue persists regardless of the location of the extender. Even when placed very close to the router, the 5GHz network does not appear.
-
The extender has been factory reset multiple times, with no change.
-
Firmware currently installed: RE650(UK)_V1_190521 (latest official for V1)
-
Tested devices: multiple smartphones and laptops, all fail to detect 5GHz from the extender.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:
-
Restarted both the router and the extender multiple times.
-
Factory reset of the RE650.
-
Verified the 5GHz SSID and password settings.
-
Tested various positions and distances from the main router.
-
Verified the extender is using the latest firmware for V1 (2019 release).
-
Checked main router 5GHz network; it works correctly and broadcasts normally.
-
Attempted different channel settings on the router, including safe lower channels (36–48).
Observations:
-
Despite all attempts, the 5GHz network never appears on the extender.
-
The 5G LED remains off at all times.
-
The 2.4GHz network is stable and functional.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
