Auto biorhythm override

Auto biorhythm override
Auto biorhythm override

Model: Tapo L535B
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.4.1

The latest firmware on this bulb seems to have Auto Biorhythm (AB) instead of the simpler Auto Match / Auto Compensate functionality on earlier firmware or my other bulbs.

While being able to tweak the lighting level and temp in AB is a neat idea in theory, the fact that it is always either on or off is a major loss of practical functionality. It's impossible to override without going into the app. If a light has been set to a specific colour, temperature, or level, AB will override it the next time it hits a node.

Example: in my living room, I had various 'modes' set up, which I can choose via Alexa, to adjust the lights depending on what I'm doing, e.g. low light for watching movies, or red light feeding baby in the middle of the night, or warm light for a general 'cosy' atmosphere, and a default 'on' mode running Auto Match for all other situations. This was great with Auto Match as it can be overriden easily, but Auto Biorhythm is impossible to override without going into the tapo app, so it will return to AB as soon it hits the next Time Node. This is a backwards step from the Auto Match that Auto Biorhythm replaced.

To fix this, make Auto Biorhythm work like a choosable 'colour', just like how Auto Match worked before.

Hey @Dan451,

Thanks for the feedback!

Even before this was added to Tapo, this was actually an issue that I would experience with Home Assistant, where a workaround had to be specifically made to disable it.

For your recommended fix, would this not result in the same behavior - where the color would be set each time that time of day came around?

From my perspective, this is a feature that I would want to request be made available for the bulb's smart actions, or add a specific rule to turn off the feature when the device is manually adjusted.

Looking at the feature, I do have concerns for how it actually functions. Given the text "The device's bio-ryhtm settings will be applied each time the bulb turns on" makes me think that this setting is stored locally on the bulb.
