Hi,

Forgive me if the answer is obvious - but I just want to be sure I'm looking at the right product.

Can the TL-WPA4220 (or another similar model) connect to my existing (Virgin Media) router via powerlink - and then provide wifi (in the same SSID?) in another part of the house?

I already have a couple of old TL-PA4010 devices set up - to connect one device via ethernet cable. This works great.

I'm wondering if I can get one more device to plug into the wall and connect to the router via powerlink - and then provide wifi?

My flat has thick stone walls and the router is in an inconvenient corner - so "normal" wifi solutions are tricky. I already have a couple of wifi repeaters in place (provided by Virgin Media) but I think powerlink is a better way to get the (better signal) wifi to different rooms. (for devices that don't have ethernet ports)

I hope my questions make sense.

Hi @jbraner ,

Yes,this is exactly what the TL-WPA4220 and similar powerline extender models are designed to do! Here's how it works:

WiFi Capability:
With your existing TL-PA4010 base unit wired to your Virgin Media router via Ethernet cable, you can add a TL-WPA4220 powerline extender (or similar WiFi-enabled model) and plug it into a wall socket in another part of your house (within the same electrical circuit). The extender will boost the WiFi signal in that area. Models with "WPA" in the front (like TL-WPA4220) support WiFi function, while models with just "PA" (like your current TL-PA4010) are wired-only.

Same SSID (Single Network):
After you configure the powerline device and form a powerline network successfully, it will broadcast its own WiFi network by default. However, if you want a single network around your house with the same SSID as your Virgin Media router, you can use the Wi-Fi Clone feature to clone your router's WiFi settings (SSID and password) to the powerline extender. This way, your devices will seamlessly connect to the same network name throughout your flat.

How can I copy the wireless setting from the front router using Powerline ac Wi-Fi Kit by Wi-Fi Clone button?

  @Joseph-TP,

Thanks for your reply. I've been doing more research and I figured this was how it works.

I've got a WPA2420 on it''s way to me right now - so hopefully it will work OK.
