Model: Deco XE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.5

Hello.

Setup: 2 XE75's, main+node mesh, connected to ISP via VLAN 300 (no modem in between).

It's been working flawlessly for months, but yesterday suddenly no internet and a solid red light on both Deco's.

Tried a lot of different things/settings/restarts without success. Because the original ISP wifi router did work, I decided to try what is also frequently being suggested: swapping the units so my 2nd node is now the main (incl resets and settings things up fresh). Ta da, green lights and back online.

I am just wondering, why did this work? All settings etc are still the same...

Thanks, Daan

  @ToneAU thanks, good catch!

Indeed it seems port 1 failed on the old main unit. It was running fine on port 3 upstairs as satellite. Tried port 1 and now it couldn't find the main node (flashing red).

  @DaanB

Hi, welcome to the community.

Did the old "main Deco" work well serving as the satellite Mesh?

It was hard to say what had caused the network failure for now. Maybe a bad physical Ethernet connection on the old "main Deco".

It would be better to monitor the network performance in the next few days.

If the same issue happens again, you can save a screenshot of the Internet IPV4 settings as well as a copy of the web UI system log before making any changes.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @David-TP Hi, thanks for replying.

Yes, the old main is now working well upstairs.

Nothing happened to the cables/connections when the problems started and everything felt securely attached still when doing the swap. But now you mention it, should have tested this first.

Will monitor, for now it's working fine like before.

Btw, forgot to mention this but the (dynamic ip) ip4v internet connection overview was empty during the red light. So somehow there was no communication (?) between the Deco and ONT/ISP.

You might have a faulty wan/lan port 1, which is very common for these XE75 v1 units, check the community here, there a massive thread for faulty port 1's. They fail for no reason, swapping to the next port will resolve the issue, but port 1 becomes unusable.
