Firmware Version: BE68(EU)_V1_1.1.2 Build 20251028

Hello,

after replacing the main unit in my Deco mesh from BE65 → BE68, I started experiencing cyclic wireless backhaul disconnects. Initially it affected only two BE25 nodes, but I have now confirmed that a BE65 node on wireless backhaul to the BE68 can also disconnect (less frequently). At this point I need a clear resolution: either a firmware fix (targeted beta/engineering build) or confirmation that this behavior indicates a faulty unit and should be handled as RMA/return.

Setup

  • Total 11 units: 1× BE68 (main/router), 1× BE65, 9× BE25

  • The issue affects mainly:

    • 2× BE25 in the garage (wireless backhaul directly to the BE68)

    • BE65 node (wireless backhaul to the BE68) can also disconnect, but less often than the BE25 nodes

  • All other nodes (including BE25 Outdoor) remain stable

Symptom (hard evidence)

  • Deco log shows repeating pattern: disconnected → reconnected after ~2 min 31 s

  • Example events showing the same pattern:

    • 02:14:05 → 02:16:36 = 2:31

    • 06:24:34 → 06:27:05 = 2:31

  • Disconnects occur throughout the night, causing brief camera stream drops and short connectivity loss for clients behind the affected nodes

Before the replacement

  • With the same topology and BE65 as the main unit, the network was completely stable

  • The issue started immediately after switching the main unit to BE68

Steps / tests (systematic elimination)

  • Configuration migrated from BE65 to BE68; the main unit is in the same physical location

  • Tested on BE68:

    • Stable FW: BE68(EU)_V1_1.1.2 Build 20251028 (no change)

    • Forum beta: 1.1.6_build_20251113_Beta (no change)

  • Wi-Fi settings are fixed (no optimization):

    • MLO disabled

    • 2.4 GHz fixed to 20 MHz (note: after “Optimization” the BE68 only offers channels 1–11)

    • 5 GHz fixed to channel 36 / 80 MHz (EU region; manual channels up to 128)

    • Multiple restarts and firmware changes did not stop the cyclic disconnects

Key finding / workaround

  • If I replace the problematic garage BE25 with a BE65 used as a satellite, the disconnects are significantly reduced (lower frequency) and the link is generally more stable.

  • However, I later confirmed that the BE65 on wireless backhaul to the BE68 can also disconnect occasionally (just less frequently than the BE25 nodes).

  • This indicates the problem is not limited to a single BE25 unit, but points to wireless backhaul instability on the BE68 as the main/root (firmware or hardware).

Request (please advise clearly)

  1. Is this wireless backhaul instability on BE68(EU) V1 (with BE25/BE65 satellites) a known issue?

  2. Is there a newer stable firmware than 1.1.2 Build 20251028, or a targeted beta/engineering build that specifically addresses wireless backhaul stability?

  3. If no firmware fix is available, can you please confirm whether this behavior is consistent with a faulty BE68 unit and should be handled as RMA/return?

Thank you.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Would these two Deco BE25s randomly turn flashing red?

By the way, where do you find the beta "1.1.6_build_20251113"? I didn't find any information about this beta. Or do you refer to BE65 instead?

I can't figure out any possible reasons either and would like to forward your case to the senior engineer directly for further assistance.

Please check whether you could receive my email later.

By the way, can I have some screenshots of the network map and Backhaul types on the Deco App, such as:

Best regards.

Hi,

Thank you.

Flashing red LED on the two BE25 units:
I haven’t been able to physically check the garage units at the exact moment the disconnect happens, so I can’t confirm whether they turn flashing red during the event. From the Deco app logs it shows “Disconnected → Reconnected”, but I did not observe the LED status in real time.

Beta firmware 1.1.6_build_20251113:
Yes, I am referring to the Deco BE68 beta firmware. The beta build 1.1.6_build_20251113_Beta was posted on the TP-Link Community forum. Here is the link to the beta thread:

Screenshots:
I have sent the requested screenshots by email (network map + backhaul types).
Best regards,
Miranes
