Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.5.0

Having just changed ISP and also invested in a new TP-Link mesh system, I have a Deco X55 connected to my Plusnet 2 isp router using FTTC. The Deco X55 then connects to an un-managed TP-link switch (TL-SG108S) and I have two other satellite Deco x55 connected to that. The main Deco is configured in AP mode and all devices are connected by Ethernet. I have a laptop with vpn running that will not connect to the internet through the Deco. However, if I plug the laptop directly into a port on the isp router it works fine. I therefore assume there is still some kind of firewall / security in the Deco even when in AP mode?
I have searched through other threads but unable to find a solution (apologies if I have missed it). Tempted to just leave the laptop connected to the ISP router as it works, but just puzzled why the Deco stops it when connected to the mesh network?

Hi, welcome to the community.

Which VPN service did you use on the laptop?

-If you temporarily disconnect the VPN service, will the internet service be back to normal?

By the way, is the current firmware version 1.5.0 Build 20250619 Rel. 69357?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks for the reply. The laptop is a work supplied device with mandatory vpn which can't be disconnected.

Yes, that is the Firmware version.

Any ideas welcome.

Hi, does this work laptop support an Ethernet connection? Would it behave the same when it is connected via Ethernet cable to the Deco?

I don't think there are any firewall settings left on the Deco X50 when it is in AP mode. But it is suggested to disable "Smart DHCP" under Deco App>More>Advanced to see whether it made any difference.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
