Firmware Version: 1.4.0 Build 20241212 Rel. 48194

Hi,

So i have 4 Deco X60 Units i originally bought a 3 pack which were v3, then i added an extra unit which is v3.20 i made the new version my Main Unit which to be fair has all been working great.  Now my units got a FW update which they took fine so i thought, i have Eco mode enabled and my wifi set to completely turn off (4 Kids) about 3/4 weeks ago i noticed when i got up in the morning my main unit was working fine but my other 3 units had red flashing lights on them.

I done the usual turn off then on, but never worked i then had to remove the units individually from my network then re-add them, all working fine didn't think much of it just a blimp, then a few days ago same thing only this time removing the units then re-add didn't work, i had to completely delete my network then create a new one, eveything working again i then thought to myself my units shouldn't be doing this what has changed, Firmware update! So i got intouch with Support explained the issue they said they need to replace my units, but can only replace my x60 v3.20 as my v3 units have just run out of warranty (angry) i asked them nicely if they could make an exception but no chance of them replacing all 4 as a nice gesture, they said best if i buy new units, yeah like i have 4/500 quid to buy new units.

So to be honest i'm not going to go through with all the hassle of sending 1 unit away to be replaced, i'll just let my current units work away and troubleshoot anymore issues i get.

So has anybody else expericenced this issue, and if so what did they do to stop it from happening?  Anybody else had any bad support cases with Tp Link that never go resolved?

TIA

Owen

Hi, nice to see you again.

I fully understand your frustration. However, regarding warranty policies and exceptions, decisions are fully handled by the local warranty office. We cannot override their decision or process warranty claims directly.

You mentioned that the disconnection might be related to the ECO mode and firmware upgrade. If possible, you can disable the ECO Mode first, then downgrade back to the last official firmware-1.3.0 Build 20240830 Rel. 50008 via firmware recovery.

-To be more cautious, you can start with one of the satellite Deco X60_V3.0 first.

-Then test whether the satellite Deco X60_V3.0_1.3.0 could hold a stable connection with the main Deco X60_V3.2.

Or instead of downgrading the firmware, there is a new 1.6.10 beta firmware for both Deco X60_V3.2/V3.0, and here are the major firmware release notes:

New Features/Enhancement:

  • Supported modification of 5 GHz Wi-Fi bandwidth.
  • Optimized the client list.
  • Improved system stability and security.

If you're interested, you can also find the beta firmware here:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/833844?replyId=1593174

PS: It can't revert to the official 1.4.0 directly. A firmware recovery is needed to downgrade from 1.6.10 to 1.4.0.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Hi David,

Many thanks as usual for your reply greatly appreciate your advice as always.

Just a bit frustrated with the whole issue as i'm sure you can understand.

As for your options i would prefer to move forward rather than roll back with the firmware, if i were to upgrade to the beta version of firmware what difference would there be from the beta to official if any? and if there was a difference with the official release would my units auto upgrade to the official version if they were running the beta?

Thanks

Owen
