Model: TL-WPA4220 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello, so I used the kit for a year as the powerline with the connected by cable with no issues. 2 months ago it stopped providing internet via cable.

Changed the router placement so I cannot use the powerline function anymore (sockets limitation) so would like to use this device as the extender. So connected the device to the socket, directly over the router (700mbps) in this area, cloning the network via WPS buttons and the "extender own network" disappears (so far so good). Nevertheless I see no improvement in the signal coverage nor the speed - despite sitting 3 meters away from the device.

I can enter the device settings via TLplc app and change the network name - then I am getting full signal but there is no internet connection via this device.

All I need to do is extend the signal like 2 meters, that's it.

Please advise.

Hello @Maciek1 ,

Welcome to our community.

Please note an important point about how powerline devices work: they cannot function as standalone Wi-Fi range extenders or repeaters. They are fundamentally different from traditional Wi-Fi extenders.

Powerline products turn the electrical wiring of a home into network cables and transmit signals to every room. To establish a functional Powerline network, you'll need at least two Powerline devices working together • one acting as the primary adapter (base unit) and the other as a secondary adapter (extender).

  @Maciek1

Hi,

TP-Link's "WPA...." devices cannot substitute a TP-Link "RE..." device, if that's what you are trying to do.

The TL-WPA4220 will only be able to connect to the Internet if you connect it to your router either via Powerline (through a second Powerline adapter that is connected to the router) or via Ethernet cable.
