Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.7.1 Build 20260213 rel.87654(5553)

Here is the proof

Hi TP-Link Team,

I’m currently using a TP-Link AX53 (Version 1) running on the latest firmware (v1.7), and I’ve been testing QoS behavior, especially related to bufferbloat and latency.

After enabling QoS, I noticed that upload loaded latency has significantly improved and is now stable, which is great. However, download loaded latency is still not properly controlled.

From my tests:

  • Idle ping is around ~5 ms

  • Upload loaded latency is low and stable after QoS

  • Download loaded latency still spikes (high values and noticeable jitter).

  • The “high” latency values during download are especially concerning

What’s interesting:
If I connect another router via Ethernet to the AX53 and run the same test through that secondary router, the download loaded latency gets properly controlled. This suggests that the issue may be specific to how AX53 handles download QoS or queue management.

So in summary:

  • QoS is working correctly for upload

  • QoS is not effectively controlling download bufferbloat.

  • The issue seems reproducible and not ISP-related

Request:
Could you please investigate and improve download-side QoS (bufferbloat control) in future firmware updates? It seems like download traffic shaping or queue handling is not functioning as expected.

I’d really appreciate any insights or fixes regarding this.

Thanks!
