Hi! When someone walks past the doorbell the little ring around the camera lights up. It is NOT giving a full beam of light but jus the circle around the camera lights up. This is annoying as the camera is in a communal hallway. It alerts my neighbours to the fact that the camera is recording (and it also tells them when it is NOT recording). How do I stop the little light from coming on? Thanks!

Also, what might be the reason for sporadic non-recording of people who walk right by it? Thanks!

When the doorbell's LED is set to Auto On, it will light up when you're watching live view or when it detects movement; set it to Always Off if you don't want the light. You can find the LED setting in the doorbell's Device Settings page.

 

Regarding the detection function, it’s important to note that this doorbell is battery-powered, so it spends most of its time in sleep mode until the built-in PIR sensor detects activity and wakes it up. To ensure the PIR sensor can detect motion effectively and the detection feature works reliably, the angle and placement of the doorbell are very important.
