Ring devices disconnecting intermittently on Deco mesh (Starlink setup)
Hi all,
I’m hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.
I’ve recently set up a Deco X10 mesh system with Starlink, and overall WiFi coverage has improved a lot across the house. However, I’m now having issues with my Ring doorbell and a rear security camera.
They keep randomly going offline and sometimes live view is slow or poor quality. The odd thing is that signal strength in those areas should now be good after adding the mesh nodes.
I’ve already:
- Restarted the router and Deco system
- Reconnected the Ring devices
- Checked power/battery and internet speed
The issue still happens intermittently.
Just wondering if anyone has seen similar issues with Ring devices on Deco mesh?
Any advice or recommended settings would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance 👍

Im having a similar issue with a security camera which is frequently appearing offline and a slow to respond Ring doorbell which were both fine until I purchased the Deco mesh system. I have the Deco X1500 which is the same hardware as your Deco X10. I believe it may be to do with the 2.4GHz network being set to 40MHz channel width. As you have the 1.4.0 firmware version on your X10 I believe you can now change the 2.4GHz channel width in the settings to 20MHz might be worth a try. Unfortunately my X1500's are still on 1.3.0 firmware which locks the channel width to 40MHz so I cant test.

@gazzasma Hi, you are correct in that I can create a new IoT network which fixes at the 2.4 GHz however after trying this the ring camera still jumps off of the preferred deco node.

@HighlandMT Hi I don't think it's 2.4GHz SSID that's the problem I think it could be the 2.4GHz networks 40MHz channel width try changing to 20MHz width see link below👇

@gazzasma The settings were set to auto under the 2.4ghz channel settings. I have now changed to 20MHz.
Since changing the settings the device has disconnected and reconnected twice.

@HighlandMT Have you tried disabling Fast Roaming and Beamforming under More/Advanced in the app? And on the settings page of the client device that keeps disconnecting have you disabled Mesh Technology? And in Specified Connection for the device do you have Preferred Deco set to the closest node rather than auto?

Hi,
You can refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot and check if these tips help.
Optimize IoT Device Stability with Mesh Networks
Please confirm the following information if the same phenomenon persists.
1. How many Deco nodes do you have? Please describe the network diagram in detail.
2. Have you configured the Ring cameras to prefer to connect to the main Deco or the nearest satellite Deco? When the camera is working, please check whether you can see the camera's Wi-Fi signal strength in the Ring app.
3. You can also connect the Ring camera to the Deco's guest network and check if this helps.
Best Regards

I have three deco devices
The setting are to connect to the closet Daco
the signal of the ring doorbell is about 67 when connected to the one it keeps jumping to, but when it does stay on the closest deco the ring RSSI score is 37.
I have not checked with the guest WiFi, but ideally do not want to have personal devices on the guest WiFi at all.

@HelpFixDecoApp I have not checked this as this is not a long term solution?
