Critical instability in Access Point mode / internet drops every few minutes
Hello,
I am experiencing severe network instability with my Deco X50 system running firmware 1.8.0 Build 25102213 Rel. 43970. The issue started a few days ago (April 2026), approximately 6 months after the firmware updated to 1.8.0. The system worked stably for months after the update, which suggests either a subsequent silent configuration push via cloud, a memory leak that accumulated over time, or a change on the ISP/cloud side that triggered incompatibility with this firmware version.
Setup:
- 3x Deco X50 units (1 main + 2 satellites)
- Main unit connected via Ethernet cable to ISP router (Huawei EG8145V5)
- Operating mode: Access Point
- ISP: fiber
Problem description: All WiFi devices (phones, tablets, smart TV) intermittently lose internet access every few minutes. The issue affects all wireless clients simultaneously. Wired devices connected directly to the ISP router work perfectly at all times, which confirms the problem is within the Deco system.
Symptoms:
- Internet drops randomly, lasting 30-120 seconds, then restores itself
- Switching WiFi off and on on client devices temporarily helps
- Deco app shows all units as "Online" even during outages
- CPU usage spikes observed during drops
- "Time online" counter resets frequently (showing 0m), confirming the main unit loses connectivity regularly
- Factory reset did not resolve the issue
- Downgrade is not possible as 1.8.0 is marked as irreversible
Root cause identified in logs:
EMERGENCY level errors appear in System Log every few minutes, coinciding exactly with internet drop events:
Sat Apr 25 18:40:42 2026 user.emerg : tp217,505[2332]:
Sat Apr 25 18:41:04 2026 user.emerg : tp217,505[3695]:

Sat Apr 25 18:59:08 2026 user.emerg : tp215,22[1475]:
Additionally, there are constant errors suggesting a misconfigured network interface in AP mode:
Sat Apr 25 18:36:48 2026 daemon.err /usr/bin/apsd: apsd_check_eth_has_neigh:1907: Error: can't find ifname[eth2.1] in eth_ifname
Sat Apr 25 18:37:00 2026 daemon.err /usr/bin/apsd: apsd_check_eth_has_neigh:1907: Error: can't find ifname[ath1] in eth_ifname
Repeated relay errors between mesh nodes:
Sat Apr 25 18:37:18 2026 daemon.err tmpsvr[2976]: Error: tmp_trans_relay
Sat Apr 25 18:37:19 2026 daemon.err tmpsvr[2976]: Error: tmp_trans_relay
Sat Apr 25 18:37:19 2026 daemon.err tmpsvr[2976]: Error: tmp_trans_relay
Sat Apr 25 18:37:19 2026 daemon.err tmpsvr[2976]: Error: tmp_trans_relay
The eth2.1 interface error appears continuously and suggests that firmware 1.8.0 has a bug in network interface configuration when operating in Access Point mode. The user.emerg events at process level are particularly concerning as they indicate a critical system failure occurring repeatedly.
What I have already tried:
- Factory reset of all Deco units
- Disabled Smart DHCP
- Disabled Beamforming
- Changed wireless mode to Stable
- Confirmed ISP router (Huawei) has full internet connectivity via ping test - problem is isolated to Deco
- Downgrade blocked by firmware 1.8.0 (marked as irreversible)
Request: Please investigate the eth2.1 interface errors and user.emerg events occurring in firmware 1.8.0 Access Point mode. Please provide either a hotfix firmware or a method to downgrade to the previous stable version.
Thank you.
