Hi Tapo team,

I'd like to request custom duration for recordings post detection as a feature enhancement for the app.

I've seen a number of threads on Reddit and some similar topics raised here so I don't think it is unique to this particular model of camera (C720). At the moment the recordings are insufficient in length, meaning I'm unable to fully understand what has happened on my property after a detection event.

This seems to be creating a lot of frustration for the community community and seems like a relatively easy feature to implement

Thanks

Pete

Just to clarify, are you asking for the option to extend recording time after motion is no longer detected in the camera’s view? Currently, the camera is designed to continue recording for a short while even after motion stops, it doesn’t end immediately. And when motion is detected again after recording ends, a new recording will be triggered automatically.

How much longer would you like it to record, and in what kind of scenario would you need the extra recording time?

Hi @Wayne-TP,

yes exactly that. I have defined a detection zone for triggering a recording to start on my driveway. Having the recording extend say 30 seconds instead of the 5 it seems to be at the moment (SD card in H200) would be beneficial to understand travel direction

It would also help with recordings / notifications as a longer duration would treat it as a single event. I've seen various Reddit threads around setting up smart actions as a workaround but this seems like a burden on the user when it should be available as a product feature
