Model: Deco X80-5G
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.1.1 Build 20230410 Rel 78273

The x80-5G regularly freezes, requires a hard power cycle to return to a functioning state.

The other Decos x50-POE) remain operational, however as the x80-5G is hte main unit in the setup, it disconnects the whole network from the internet and creates issues with management via the app

Hi,
Regarding the freeze phenomenon, please provide more detailed information.

  1. When the Deco X80-5G freezes, what's the LED status on it? Are the client devices disconnected from the Deco, or are they connected to Deco's Wi-Fi but have no internet?
  2. How many Deco nodes do you have? How many client devices are in your network? Please describe your network diagram.
  3. Is the Deco X80-5G connected to a SIM card to go to the internet, or is it connected to a modem/router? Does Deco work in Router mode?
  4. Are you able to log in to the Deco's Web UI when it freezes? How often does the freeze phenomenon occur?
  5. Does the Deco X80-5G display offline in the Deco app when it freezes? If not, can you change any settings on the Deco, such as the Wi-Fi name and password?

Best regards.

This sounds like an abnormal behavior where your main Deco unit is becoming unresponsive. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Try a different power adapter or power outlet for the X80-5G main unit. Power-related issues can sometimes cause the device to freeze or become unresponsive.

2. Disconnect any Ethernet cables and client devices from the main Deco unit temporarily, and observe whether the freezing issue persists. This can help identify if any connected devices or cables are triggering the freeze.

3. If the issue continues, you may also want to check if there's a firmware update available for your X80-5G, as your current firmware (Build 20230410) may have known issues that have been addressed in newer versions.

4. Ensure the main Deco is placed in an open area with proper ventilation • avoid enclosed spaces like cabinets or shelves, as overheating could potentially cause the unit to freeze.

If the above steps do not resolve the freezing issue, please replyback to this post

Thanks

. 1. When the Deco X80-5G freezes, what's the LED status on it? Are the client devices disconnected from the Deco, or are they connected to Deco's Wi-Fi but have no internet?

I have the lights set to be continuously off, when it freezes, the lights stay off. I can turn on the lights for the other decos, which flash red during these instances when the x80-5g freezes. The x80-5G is completely unresponsive, all client client devices (includign other Decos) disconnect.

  2. How many Deco nodes do you have? How many client devices are in your network? Please describe your network diagram.

I have 1x x80-5G and 3x x50 POE units, connected to it by ethernet backhaul. I have ~17 clients connected to the network via both wifi and ethernet.

  3. Is the Deco X80-5G connected to a SIM card to go to the internet, or is it connected to a modem/router? Does Deco work in Router mode?

I currently use the SIM card as the primary internet connection, it also freezes when connected to a WAN an in router mode

  4. Are you able to log in to the Deco's Web UI when it freezes? How often does the freeze phenomenon occur?

No, when it freezes it is completely unresponsive. It freezes at least once a month, sometimes up to once a day

  5. Does the Deco X80-5G display offline in the Deco app when it freezes? If not, can you change any settings on the Deco, such as the Wi-Fi name and password?

It ceases to appear in the Deco app, equivalent to when it is off. I cannot access it, nor change any settings.
