Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.8.0 Build 25102213 Rel. 43970

Dear Team,

I would appreciate your assistance regarding an issue with my Deco X55 mesh system.

I purchased the system over a year ago, and it has been working perfectly until about a week ago. Since then, we have been experiencing frequent intermittent disconnections during everyday activities such as work, gaming, and browsing.

We are a family of four and rely heavily on the network. My setup includes three Deco X55 units and over 25 connected devices.

To rule out external causes, I contacted my ISP and had both the incoming cable and the upstream device replaced. The connection tests from their side are excellent, but the intermittent disconnections unfortunately persist.

I have also performed a full factory reset on all Deco devices and confirmed that they are running the latest firmware - 1.8.0 Build 25102213 Rel. 43970

I have extracted the system logs and can provide them for further analysis—please let me know the preferred method and timing for uploading them.

I would greatly appreciate your support in resolving this issue.

Thank you in advance.

@HelpFixDecoApp Dear all, just to confirm — my hardware version is 1.0. Is the beta firmware compatible with this version?

If your device label shows "Ver: 1.0" (which indicates hardware version 1.0), you should only install firmware specifically designated for V1.0. Firmware labeled for V1.30 or V1.33 would be for different hardware versions and should not be installed on a V1.0 device.

So at this time do not try that beta. See if any of the following suggestion help.

Since intermittent disconnections can have different causes depending on whether it's the main Deco, satellite units, or client devices experiencing issues, let me provide you with comprehensive troubleshooting steps:

For Main Deco unstable/dropping issues:
1. Make sure the Ethernet cable is connected properly, replace old cables with new ones.
2. In the Deco APP > MORE > Internet Connection > IPv4 > DNS Address, change the two DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1.
3. Clone the MAC address of your PC or your old Router. You can refer to this FAQ for MAC clone: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2925/

For Satellite Deco unstable/dropping issues:
1. Make sure both the main Deco and satellite units are properly placed. Do not put any Deco unit in enclosed spaces like cabinets, shelves, or corners • they should be in open areas.
2. Move the satellite units closer to the main Deco. Ideal backhaul signal strength should be 2/3 bars.
3. Remove the Ethernet cables attached to the satellite units to see if this temporarily resolves the issue.
4. Open the Deco app, go to MORE > ECO Mode (if available), and ensure that ECO Mode is turned off.

For Client devices unstable/dropping issues (such as laptops, PCs, phones, IoT smart devices) while all Deco units show green lights:

1. If your mobile devices (laptops, PCs, phones, tablets) experience dropping issues:
   • In the client list section of the Deco app, select your client device and verify that 'Speed Limit' is disabled and that 'Mesh' and 'Connection Preference' settings are not mistakenly configured. The 'Mesh' option should be 'on' and 'Connection Preference' should be 'auto' by default.
   • In the 'Parental Control' section of the Deco app, ensure that your devices are not accidentally restricted by parental control profiles.
   • Ensure your mobile devices are connected to the nearest Deco unit with strong signal and are using the 5GHz band instead of 2.4GHz, as 2.4GHz is not recommended for high-speed devices. Turn Wi-Fi off on the device and turn it back on to reconnect to the network.

2. If you have 2.4GHz IoT smart devices experiencing dropping issues:
   • Use the 'Network Optimization' tool in the Deco app to automatically optimize your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channels.
   • If you have multiple Deco units and many IoT devices, temporarily power off some of them to verify if this improves the situation.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, please reply back to this post.

  @HelpFixDecoApp

Thanks for the information. So, if I understand correctly, there is no beta firmware available for hardware version 1.0, right?

If that’s the case, is there any way to roll back my Deco firmware to a previous version? My mesh network worked perfectly for more than a year before the recent updates, so I’d really like to return to the older, stable firmware.

Thanks.
