Model: Tapo H200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.1 Build 20251230 rel.64168

From another post I got the suggestion to call you because my local automation icon is not showing up even when setting up very simple smart actions such as with the T110 and the H200 hub (for a specific period of time during the day). Can something be done, please?

Tapo hub is not a supported action device in Tapo local smart. So what you've encountered is the expected situation.

Thank you for your reply, but I don't understand: in your online documentation I found the following:

"1. Supported Firmware: The Tapo hub's firmware must support this feature. *The latest firmware for Tapo models H100, H110, H200, and H500 all support local smart automation. Update your Tapo hub if it is not in the latest version. "

This means that the H200 is a pre-requisite for local smart actions to function, right? Or, did you mean that my H200 model it's too old to support the necessary firmware, therefore local smart actions do not work with my H200?

Not every smart device and its associated skills support Tapo Local Smart. If your automation rule includes any unsupported devices or settings, this rule cannot run locally. You can learn more about this feature here: What is Local Smart Action?

Thank you, but I still don't understand. This is the page I took as a reference:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/stories/detail/502174

According to what this page says, the H200 and the T100 motion sensor should allow for Local smart actions. In fact, when I created a very simple smart action using only the H200 and the T100 to only trigger a ring from the H200 when motion is detected, the H200 is not taking over the trigger execution.

Is there something that I'm still missing, please?

I should probably clarify this more precisely: when we say the Tapo hub supports local smart, it means it can serve as the control hub that runs automations locally — not that the hub itself can be used as an action device within an automation (this may change in the future, but it is not currently supported).

You can find the current list of supported trigger and action device types, as well as compatible skills, in the FAQ. The basic principle for creating a local smart rule is that every device type and skill used in both the Trigger and Action sections must be on the supported listWhat is Local Smart Action?

However, if you include any items not on the supported list — for example, choosing “Ring Tapo Hub” as an action — note that “Tapo Hub” is not listed as a supported Action device. This means the automation does not meet the requirements for local execution. Put simply: currently, any automation rule that contains a Tapo Hub device in its Action list cannot run locally.

Thank you for the more precise explanation. I do hope that the scope of local smart actions will expand in future.so that we can do more automation locally with the hubs.
