Model: Archer BE3600   Archer AX18
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.7 Build 20260316 rel.38939(4555)

Hello,

I recently purchased 1 Archer BE3600 and 2 Archer AX18 units. The BE3600 is the main router, and the 2 AX18 units are satellites. Everything is connected via EasyMesh (wirelessly).

The setup goes very smoothly and the network works perfectly for 12–24 hours. Then, for no clearly identified reason, several situations occur either separately or at the same time:

  • One of the satellites (AX18) disconnects and does not reconnect unless I restart either it or the main router.
  • The network crashes completely or partially. It only starts working again when I restart the main router.
  • The network becomes slow, some devices disconnect while others do not, etc. I have to restart the main router to fix the problem.

Some useful information:

  • Both satellites have a very decent connection to the main router (3 blue bars out of 5).
  • Smart Connect, TWT, and OFDMA/MU-MIMO are disabled (same issue when they are enabled).
  • All drivers and firmware are up to date everywhere.
  • I have already tried resetting the routers and adding them again.
  • I tried using the BE3600 with only one AX18, then the other AX18.
  • There are no other Wi-Fi networks in the house, and my house is far from any other house.

At this point, I have no other idea left. Does anyone have an idea? Or shall I just sent all of this back to Amazon.....?

Hello @jipikito ,

Welcome to our community.

Have you tried using a wired backhaul? Does this network instability also occur? This step can help us quickly identify the problem boundary. If the problem is confirmed to be a wireless backhaul link issue, you can try changing the channel for the Wireless band to a more suitable one.

Then, please switch the positions of the two satellites and observe if the problem shifts. This step is to rule out whether the problem originates from a specific satellite unit.

If the situation remains the same after swapping the Satellite nodes, please also try adjusting their placement.

For more details, please refer to TroubleshootingThe internet connection is unstable when connected to the EasyMesh Network

Best Regards.

@Joseph-TP Hi and thank you for your message. I have not tried a wired backhaul and it is not going to be possible in my house given the layout. Regarding choosing another channel, I can try, but I live far from any other house so I would be surprised if it was a channel issue, what do you think? I have tried many different positions for the satellites and the problem still happens. What I have been trying in the last 3 days is to have only 1 satellite and for now, no crash or any other problem. I am going to do the same with the other satellite now, wait for 3 days, and then we will see...

Hello@jipikito ,

So you mean that since only one Satellite unit AX18 is currently running, the previous slowness and instability problems no longer exist?

You're also welcome to share the results of testing another unit separately at any time.

@Joseph-TP It was what I meant, yes. Yesterday, I changed the wifi band to DFS (which btw improved the performance overall, but another topic for another day). Then, I added the second satellite again. One hour later, the network was crashing, devices started disconnectiong, etc... . I removed trhe third satellite again from the easymesh, and now it works fine. What are your thoughts? Is the third satellite faulty? Or is it the fact of adding a third satellite that makes it crash?

PS: Now that I am on DFS (112), I can still see 3 SSIDs on channel 36: 1 is my home SSID, the other two are hidden. Is that normal?

@Joseph-TP Ok thank you. Update: The whole network has crashed again, even though I had removed the second satellite. It looks like some devices did not like the DFS or something. At this stage, it doesn't seem that the wireless easymesh network is a viable option.
