Where to get Deco PX50 1.4.0 firmware?

Model: Deco PX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0

The following page shows the April 2026 firmware update highlights include 1.4.0 for the Deco PX50 (V1):

We are now heading towards the end of May 2026 and the Deco app still shows 1.3.0 as the latest version, so where can I get 1.4.0?

Thanks :)

  @TBOS27  Thank you :)

Any idea if this firmware can be used on UK/EU devices?

The UK/EU pages don't list this version but hardware version is the same (V1)...

Hi,
For the Deco PX50 V1.0, the US firmware can't be used on the EU version.
If you have Deco PX50 (US) V1.0, please use this link to download firmware v1.4.0.

If you have Deco PX50 (EU) V1.0, the latest firmware is v1.3.0. You can download it from this link.

If you have any issues with the Deco PX50 (EU) V1.0, please describe them in detail so we can better assist you. If your Deco is working fine, it's suggested to keep using the current firmware until a new one is released.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee I'm using the latest 1.3.0 on the EU V1 hardware at the moment.

Parental controls appear to be broken in several places.

Bedtime does not work correctly, does not kick in when it's supposed to (and yes I have set it correctly and ensured time is set correctly on the units), but off-time appears to work as it should when using the same time periods set.

Website blocking does not appear to work very well either e.g. blocked all the YouTube URL endpoints but still seems to work, some blocks appear to work but some either don't work at all or only work intermittently.

VPN client does not work well at all, connection speed (throughput) and stability using OpenVPN (tried both UDP and TCP) is VERY slow and often causing loading issues for clients assigned to it, but no issues when using that same OpenVPN connection on the actual devices rather than the router as they are much faster which I assume is because of more powerful hardware.

Wireguard would be a much better option for the router as it uses less resources and will provide better stability and throughput for lower powered devices such as a router.

There are a few other issues also, will make a list.

  @crypt0ninja

Hi,
You can refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot if the parental control feature is not working properly.
What if Parental Control does not take effect on TP-Link Router/Deco?

Regarding the VPN issue, please confirm the following information for analysis.
  1. When setting up a VPN client on the client device itself, what's the speed on it when connected to the VPN server?
  2. When setting up a VPN client on the Deco, how many client devices use the VPN connection? What's the speed on them when using the VPN connection? Do you have a loading issue when visiting the website or when playing a video via VPN, or do you have other loading issues?

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

1. When using the VPN client with dedicated IP on the device itself (a Fire TV) it gets around 40-60mbps using either OpenVPN or Wireguard, using the VPN client on a Laptop with the same dedicated IP connection gets around 200-500mbps using OpenVPN or Wireguard. No issues with streaming or browsing, no buffering at all. The speed difference between the devices is purely down to CPU power and resource.

2. OpenVPN with the same dedicated IP connection on the Deco I get around 6-10mbps if I'm lucky, but the connection itself is very laggy and intermittent. I only have 1 client routing through the VPN connection (the Fire TV) but have tried other devices and it's the same. Both browsing and streaming are very slow and often buffering, and get failures during video streams and web browsing.

If Wireguard was available on the Deco I suspect it would be more stable and have better speed/throughput as it's better suited for low power devices such as the Deco as it requires less system resource compared to OpenVPN.
