TP-Link BE6500 2.4 Ghz Network Issues after firmware 1.2.3 Build 20260107 Update
Thursday - last edited Friday
Model: Archer BE6500
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 20260107 rel.48335(5553)

I just started having issues connecting to my 2.4 Ghz network and did some extensive troubleshooting. Here are my observations:

  • 2.4 GHz SSID disappears from all devices simultaneously (e.g., my phone, kids' tablet, and other devices all have the network vanish as available WiFi networks to connect to).
  • Router GUI still shows 2.4 GHz enabled.
  • Enabling 5 GHz immediately stabilizes 2.4 GHz. This is the only workaround I could find and something I don't find acceptable because I don't want to have the 5 GHz network permanently enabled.
  • Manual channel selection did not help.
  • WPA2-only did not help.
  • Disabling Wi-Fi 7 did not help.
  • Devices intermittently report incorrect password despite correct password.

I know firmware version 1.2.3 Build 20260107 was released on 2026-05-13 and I have auto-firmware update turned on. However, I don't know when the firmware update was applied to my router between the firmware release date of 2026-05-13 and today, 2026-05-28. All I know is that the issues with the 2.4 Ghz network started today and I didn't manually change any router configuration or introduce any new devices to my home network.

Again, the 5 Ghz network works fine and the 2.4 Ghz network works normally only with the 5 Ghz network enabled. So is the 2.4 GHz radio crashing/resetting repeatedly, failing DFS/coexistence logic, or hitting a firmware bug? Did the newest firmware introduced a bug in the radio-management layer affecting standalone 2.4 GHz operation, transitions when only one band is enabled, or beacon/auth handling on the 2.4 GHz chipset? Does the "incorrect password" message I'm getting – despite having the right password for the network on my phone – mean the AP disappears mid-authentication, the handshake crashes, or the radio resets during WPA negotiation?

I don't know, but I'm willing to find out on behalf of other people who seem to be having similar issues as seen in this forum post: TP-Link BE6500 Dual-Band WiFi 7 Router Firmware Fix?

This is especially frustrating because the new firmware cannot be downgraded to the previous version.I haven't done a factory reset yet because that's a pain in the butt. But I'm willing to do it for testing purposes if asked by a Support person.

Hello @Buckyzas97 ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know whether your router is in Access Point mode? If yes, please change it to wireless router mode. Then, please enable the EasyMesh feature: Go to Advanced > EasyMesh, and enable EasyMesh on the router.

@Joseph-TP

My router was already in wireless router mode. Toggling on the EasyMesh setting has no impact on my issue.

Would you like to look at log or a config / backup file to see all the current settings? I'd like to avoid a long back and forth if possible.

A similar issue but with 5GHz band only enabled has been observed here and here. This could be an issue with the FW release.

In another thread a newer FW release has been identified as Archer BE400_V1_1.2.4 Build 20260210 but is nowhere to be found (probably a beta version).

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue as a "Recommended Solution". BTC:149wubkkfoLmNDjDbiTxx4ZU8mpcMA5CJt

Hello @Buckyzas97 ,

Thanks for sharing the test results.

Yes, the relevant technical departments have preliminarily identified the cause of this anomaly. A firmware update to fix it will likely be released soon.
However, the current temporary workaround has not resolved the unexpected behavior you are experiencing. We recommend sending an email to forumsupport.usa@tp-link.com  with the following information:

Re:TP-Link BE6500 2.4 Ghz Network Issues after firmware 1.2.3 Build 20260107 Update
Yesterday

@Joseph-TP – You might want to re-read my initial post. I do have a workaround and I found it myself: enabling the other router radio.

I'm glad that you've confirmed this is a firmware issue and a fix is on the way. I'll just wait for that to happen.
