Technicolor OWA0131 mesh nodes
Technicolor OWA0131 mesh nodes
I'm in the process of setting up a new Archer BE400 at home and hoping to link it with my existing Technicolor OWA0131s via EasyMesh
They were all working fine with my Technicolor router, but with the BE400 only two connect
Two complain they can't find the mesh controller
All are connected back to the BE400 with cables
Struggling to understand why two connect and two don't
The two that don't connect appear to fall back to AP mode,
Any and all suggestions gratefully received
Thanks

Check if all the Technicolor OWA0131 are running the same firmware release version.
Which FW release BE400 is running - the latest official is Archer BE400(EU)_V1.20_1.2.3 Build 20260107.

All the OWAs seem to be at the same level (which itself is odd as they came from very different places!)
The Archer needs updating tonight (it's brand new, so not updated to "latest" yet)

Well, Archer upgraded to latest firmware
My two failing OWAs still resolutely refuse to find the mesh controller
The other two are still running, but with the wrong led sequence (they're suggesting EasyMesh has failed, but they're transmitting the correct ssids and I can teach my home network)
I think I need to invest in a couple of Decos
Ah well

Hi,
May I ask what exact procedure you used to connect the OWA0131 to the Archer BE400?
Usually, the most standard way to connect a new Mesh node to an EasyMesh router is to reset the Mesh node via it's "Reset" button, wait about 2 to 3 minutes for it to start up again, and then press the "WPS" buttons of the router and the Mesh node in short succession. The OWA0131 has its "WPS" button on the top and the BE400 on its rear side.
In case a wireless EasyMesh connection was established successfully, you could then also connect the node to the router via Ethernet cable and theoretically they should automatically switch to Ethernet backhaul.

I've tried both wireless via APS and wired
HOWEVER
I've discovered that the two that are working have EXACTLY the same firmware
At least one of the failing ones has firmware that appears to be 5 months older - and these are regarded as ISP kit, so there's no enduser firmware available it seems

That was my intitial thought - a firmware issue. If you can update the FW for these two, most probably the issue would be resolved.

Agreed
But I haven't been able to find any firmware anywhere to upload
The are strictly viewed as "managed by your ISP". Wish I'd known that when I bought them😡😡
anyways, two Decos now ordered

Just keep in mind that, Deco systems use their own proprietary Deco Mesh technology. Generally, they do not support EasyMesh and cannot be combined into a single unified mesh network with EasyMesh, OneMesh, or Omada devices.

I'd assumed they would - that's annoying
Though I guess I can use them as APs even though they won't form a mesh with the router? I just need two in remote places around the house
Our devices tend not to move around much, so remote access is more important than seamless roaming tbh
If we do end up needing seamless roaming I guess we can turn off the Archers wifi and get a third Deco to act as the "base" mesh node
