RE505X V1 can't join OneMesh network with AX23
Hi everyone,
I am writing to report a major compatibility issue between the Archer AX23 router and the RE505X v1 range extender, which are currently failing to connect using OneMesh technology—despite both devices explicitly advertising OneMesh support on their boxes.
After troubleshooting extensively, it seems this issue started after the Archer AX23 received a firmware update to support EasyMesh. It appears that when EasyMesh was implemented on the AX23, OneMesh support was completely removed or broken, leaving it unable to handshake with the RE505X v1 (which is still running OneMesh).
Here are the details of the problem:
The Issue: The AX23 router no longer detects or pairs with the RE505X v1 as a mesh node. They function only as a standard router and basic extender, completely defeating the purpose of the seamless roaming I paid for.
The Conflict: TP-Link documentation states EasyMesh and OneMesh devices should have some cross-compatibility, or at least fallback options, but they are absolutely refusing to talk to each other here.
Both product boxes explicitly market "OneMesh" compatibility as a key selling point. Stripping this feature away via a mandatory firmware update feels like a massive step backward.
Is anyone else experiencing this with the AX23 and older v1 extenders?
To the TP-Link Support Team: Could you please confirm if OneMesh was intentionally dropped from the AX23's EasyMesh firmware? If so, we need an urgent patch to restore backward compatibility with existing OneMesh extenders, or an immediate EasyMesh firmware update for the RE505X v1 so we can actually link our hardware again.
Looking forward to a response or a workaround from the community. Thanks!
