AV1200 passthrough prevents BThomehub4 from getting broadband signal

ISP :
Installing an AV1200 passthrough powerline adapter prevents my BT HomeHub4 DSL router from getting a broadband connection.
These are the symptoms:
Before - works: A TPlink AV500 passthrough powerline connector has been in use for a couple of years with my BT HomeHub4. It has worked fine. The configuration is this: AV500 in the wall socket, power to the HomeHub4 from the passthrough socket on the AV500 unit, Ethernet cable connected to the RJ45 socket on the AV500 unit.
After - fails:
Today, I installed the AV1200 version in the same configuration. After pairing the AV1200 units together, I connected the BT HomeHub to the power outlet on the new AV1200 passthrough powerline adapter and switched on the Home Hub. This caused the Home Hub to fail to connect to a DSL signal. I left it all day. The situation did not improve. I then went back to the old AV500. The BT HomeHub4 immediately got a DSL signal and broadband was back on.
I believe that TP-Link have a severe problem here. The configuration I am using is the obvious one for any typical setup.
Is this a known problem?
Is there a fix?
My guess as to why this occurs:
To me this appears to be a problem with the passthrough powerline sending noise to the BTHomeHub4 and so causing it to fail. The passthrough should not send noisy power to the devices connected to it, so the symptoms suggest to me that the design or the implementation are very poor.
I want the faster network to be able to access the router at the highest possible speed but there is not much use in that, if the router is compromised by the passthrough power.
