I have a VG5612 running voip for our phone service.
I like that the modem has a voice mail function but cannot find information that tells me how to record an outgoing message so that callers know it's our phone.

Can anyone shed some light on this dilemma ?

I found the answer.
Although it is not clear in any of the documentation you can leave a custom outgoing message by pressing *30 and this will prompt you to leave an outgoing message. You also have to choose custom rather than default in voicemail /config / Record voice notification accessed in the modems menus.
