I use the router for sharing Internet over 4G / LTE from my mobile to my computers which are connected by LAN-cable. And it works fine. :-)
Mobile-phone instead of LTE-Stick makes it possible to make phone-calls and have internet connection at the same time. No WLAN can be hacked and the phone will be recharged during the use. Who wants, should be able to use it for WLAN / WIFI too.
Details:
Mobile-phone: Huawei Y5p (USB-Tethering-mode over USB, without Google-services)
Country: DE (Germany)
ISP: O2 / Telefonica (Ortel Mobile as sub-provider)
TP-Link Router: TL-MR3020
Great price: 23,95 Euro at Reichelt Germany in January 2022
No installation of software on smartphone or computer needed. Tested with computers which are running Win7 and Win10 and Linux Mint Mate. And Sat-Receiver from Imperial with network-streaming function by RJ-45-port is working fine.
The only negative point: The language at the router is available only in English.

As answer to JuzzyQLD #64:
In Germany should all online shops allow sending back products within 14 days (and of course receiving money back). The only exceptions: CDs and other things that you can copy. But a router is hardware which can not be copied.

Modem: VR600v V2 with the latest firmware. (Archer_VR600vV2_1.2.0_0.9.1_up_boot(200625)_2020-06-25_16.19.17.bin)
I Can confirm that an old 'HUAWEI - E5577Fs-932' is 'Detected successfully' and works.
I am getting 40 Down and 15 up and used a micro USB cable to connect to the 4G to the VR600v.
I set the VR600v to 3G/4G mode.
I used my day to day Optus mobile sim in the device to test.
I can also confirm that the Optus 'E3372h-608' purchased from Officeworks is not detected by the VR600v V2 with the latest firmware.
Good luck everyone :)

This is really odd as this list is populated for Australia / New Zealand, but empty for everywhere else.
So you can see the supposed compatible USB dongle things. But I dont understand why nothing is listed for other countries.
I would guess the firmware would potentially recognise the dongles on that list but please dont take my word for it.
I have a Huawei E3372h-320 which I bought to test with my vr2600 but it wouldnt work :-(
I can put it up on ebay for £20 plus a couple of quid. Brand new, unlocked and unused. Of course, no idea if it is compatible with your vr2800.
