Disabling MIMO just removes one of two signal path alternatives ... and it doesn't help unstable connections.
It also disables the adaptor to adaptor mesh network and means that all paths are direct.

Vogon, seriously? PLC is always a point-to-point mesh, unless you have a professional set of adapters and management software that lets you (1) lock down one adapter as the central coordinator hub that connects to the router and then (2) set the PLC net mode to router-only.

Consumer grade PLC has neither of those capabilities - all adapters in a network are equal peers, transfers are always peer to peer, no matter whether it's MIMO or SISO.

I honestly find the amount of technobabble bullshit advice on this forum just as hilarious as it is sad.

[The update for the 9020P once again is just for the latest hardware version - owners of V1 are already out of the loop.]

I seem to have fixed the red light coming on issue by fitting clip on power cable inductors from ebay to all my mains plugs that plug into the units, and also to all my multigang adaptors in the house.

Hey @The Vogon
What do ya mean, can you explain a lil bit plz?

@Peter M
Calm down plz, my advice was just for testing purposes, nobody has to do that if he does not want to, ok?
My Problems with „red light“ went after disabling MIMO and i still have a stable and „fast“ link @~500-600mbit, no drops and no fallbacks to slower links anymore!
How fast are TP-Links AV1200 round-about?

By the way, i tested with new AVM FRITZ!Powerline 1220E too and had similar issues(link drops and and speed fallbacks to ~7mbit)!
After disabling MIMO this issues went too...

So you got massive disturbance on your ground wiring there ... better solve that then work around it.

(Besides, instead of buying AV1200 kit and disabling MIMO, you could just as well use AV600 kit. Same thing.)

How to disable MIMO? some new firmware version out there for V1
2018-07-12 00:32:12
How can I disable MIMO? It's the avoid VDSL interference option? If it's this the option is not working for me.
Which is the last firmware versión for PA9020P V1 versión?
Vogon could you explain an put some photos with that magic clips?

I really think the only problem here is firmware.

One cheat/workaround. When PLC becomes unstable for me now I don't need to disconnect PLC anymore. Enabling and disabling VDSL compatibility option makes all work again, maybe PLC resets the connection or something and I don't need to disconnect and connect again.

Thanks to everybody

See https://www.amazon.co.uk/UF90B-Clip-Ferrite-Black-Diameter/dp/B016FC066O

Definitely a significant improvement after fitting these. No red LEDs so far.

Target anything with a switch mode power supply from Tvs to phone chargers. Especially anything that plugs directly into the Powerline unit.

Makes sense with anything with electrical motor, but 9020P are supposed to filter at least what you plug on it.

I Will try.

Thanks.

It's more things like mobile phone chargers and consumer electronics that are the issue.

After a couple of weeks now, zero red LEDs. Has definitely fixed that issue.
